As of this posting, the product page for this container is listing it at 47 quarts. My rule of thumb for unmilled grain storage is about 5 lbs per gallon. 47 quarts is 11.75 gallons. At an estimate of 5 lbs per gallon, you could store about 58,74 lbs in this container. That’s a rough estimate, actual capacity will vary.

I actually said it doesn’t hold a 50# bag of grain EASILY. I had to fill in every crevice to make the lid fit. Plus, the lid barely snaps down. I’m surprised it’s marketed as airtight since the lid doesn’t clamp hard. I can lift the lid with my pinky finger.
I wish I’d have seen the next size up when I ordered this.
Reading through the reviews on amazon says the seal is cheap foam and moths can eat through it. Another reviewer says that moisture started condensing on the inside of the container when they stored it outside.
The moisture thing could easily be explained by residual moisture in the contents. I don’t think I’d want to store my grain outside anyway. 🙂 This line is used by a bunch of homebrewers with good success. If you’re looking for the next step up, I’d say the Vittles Vault containers are what you’re looking for. Click on the Storage Tag on the right and you should see some posts with different Vittles Vault Containers.
Current price shows as $24.31 for me. Once you get to amazon, there’s the option to choose 60-67 quarts for just a few pennies more ($24.99)
You might want to revise your comments going forward. This container DOES NOT hold 50# of grain easily. I bought this on that assumption and barely fit a 50# bag of 2-row in it!
thinking about buying one.. you said it DOES NOT hold it but then you said it barely does? Which is it?
He said it doesn’t hold it *easily* 🙂
Good to know. I will revise this post and future posts on this. Thanks for letting me know. I’m glad it does hold a full bag though. 🙂
