A complete kit that includes the Monster MM2 mill and hopper, with or without the extension. Monster mills are known for being great quality, top of the line, homebrewing mills. The mill itself consists of a 6061 aluminum block frame with two 6″ long, 1.5″ wide steel rollers riding on SAE 841 oil impregnated bronze bushings. Monster Mills use a superior grade of steel that is much harder than what is found on most comparable products and in most cases will last almost twice as long. The drive shaft, and all the axles are integral to the roller rather than screwed into the ends. This means that the mill works great driven clockwise or counter-clockwise. All the axles are 3/8″, with minimal freeplay in the bushings.

One of the knurled steel rollers is driven by a standard 3/8″ electric drill or hand crank (not included) to feed the grain through the adjustable gap and crush the grist. Both ends of the non-driven roller ride in bushings that are offset and mounted in an adjustable knob. The knob is held in a fixed position by a set-screw that you can loosen to adjust the mill. This system provides an adjustment range of .070″. The knobs are made from 303 stainless steel for excellent durability, and are larger in diameter than the competition, as well as knurled for a positive grip. They’ve also added a groove in the newest design knobs with a matching rounded head on the thumbscrew that allows for a much better grip on the knob to avoid gap changes while milling, and also providing knob retention.

These Packages come complete with a Base, 2 Roller Monster Mill Body, and a Hopper. Choose whether to include the Hopper Extension, which upgrades Hopper capacity to a huge 39 lb! Check out our 3 Roller Mill Packages if looking for even more crushing power.

Some thoughts about crush… Crush is a pretty big deal when it comes to efficiency.  Homebrew shops have a tendency to under mill grain.  I think the reason for that is ease of use, with the thinking that a more coarse crush equals few stuck mashes and more happy customers.  I guess it’s possible that a shop mill could over mill grain too.  The point is, when you’re using someone else’s mill, it’s up to them how you mill your grain.

Milling your own grain… 1.  Gives you control over the crush of your grain.  That’s a big factor in efficiency.  2.  A mill allows you to fine tune for your equipment and process.  You know what the crush is going to be since you set it.  3.  A mill allows you to save money by buying whole bags of grain at a discount, and 3.  The shelf life of unmilled grain is longer than pre-milled grain.  Freshly milled grain = better tasting beer.

Do you want to motorize your KegLand MaltMuncher Mill? This high torque geared grain mill motor fits the 12mm shaft on our item B06 Three Roller Mill (and any other 2 or three roller mill with a 12mm drive shaft and 1½” diameter rollers), and features internal gears to spin your mill at 200 rpm. A heavy duty spider coupling absorbs the direct drive shock, and the 1 amp motor has plenty of power to turn. This kit also includes a 10mm shaft adapter, in case you have a Maltmuncher Two Roller Mill.

NOTE: This is for mills with 1½” diameter rollers only, it will not drive larger mills with 2″ diameter rollers. This will not work with the Monster Mill MM3

A safety switch is included for mounting on your mill mount. This includes a button that is harder to turn on than turn off (to turn on, twist the red knob and press down, to turn off, just press the red knob).

This kit requires wiring and installation, besides a MaltMuncher Mill, you will need to wire this mill to your 110 volt power source (a plug is not included). You will also need to build a table mount for this mill, and elevate the motor ½” so it will line up with the drive shaft on the Mill.

See the thumbnails for mounting and wiring ideas.. When wiring, besides the hot red and black neutral wires coming out of the safety switch that you wire to your house 110 volt hot and neutral lines, you will also need to wire a green ground wire from a mount on the motor to your three prong plug.

For barley malt only, this mill does not crush corn.

Do you want to motorize your KegLand MaltMuncher Mill? This high torque geared grain mill motor fits the 12mm shaft on our item B06 Three Roller Mill (and any other 2 or three roller mill with a 12mm drive shaft and 1½” diameter rollers), and features internal gears to spin your mill at 200 rpm. A heavy duty spider coupling absorbs the direct drive shock, and the 1 amp motor has plenty of power to turn. This kit also includes a 10mm shaft adapter, in case you have a Maltmuncher Two Roller Mill.

NOTE: This is for mills with 1½” diameter rollers only, it will not drive larger mills with 2″ diameter rollers. This will not work with the Monster Mill MM3

A safety switch is included for mounting on your mill mount. This includes a button that is harder to turn on than turn off (to turn on, twist the red knob and press down, to turn off, just press the red knob).

This kit requires wiring and installation, besides a MaltMuncher Mill, you will need to wire this mill to your 110 volt power source (a plug is not included). You will also need to build a table mount for this mill, and elevate the motor ½” so it will line up with the drive shaft on the Mill.

See the thumbnails for mounting and wiring ideas.. When wiring, besides the hot red and black neutral wires coming out of the safety switch that you wire to your house 110 volt hot and neutral lines, you will also need to wire a green ground wire from a mount on the motor to your three prong plug.

For barley malt only, this mill does not crush corn.

The Barley Crusher has a long history of reliable use and is constructed using materials that will last a lifetime. The Barley Crusher uses 1018 Cold Rolled Steel for the rollers, 6061 Aluminum for the mill body and hopper, tool steel for the axles with Oil Impregnated bronze bushings.

Mill Features:

  • The gap default setting is marked and set at .039 at assembly. Adjustment range is from .015 to .070 thousandths of an inch.
  • The standard hopper holds an even 7 pounds.
  • Can be used with the Hand Crank or attached to a 3/8 in. drill motor. (No adapter is needed to operate the mill using a 3/8 in. drill motor)
  • Comes with a solid base with locators to center the Barley Crusher on a 5 or 6 gallon plastic pail. (Pail not included)
  • Using a 3/8 drill motor at 500 RPM gives you a crush rate of 6 pounds a minute making the big grain bills fast and easy.
