At 32 ounces (just shy of 1 liter), these are about 1/2 the size of a standard growler. What I would call a growlette. This is a great size for gifts and get togethers. Taking a couple of these vs one standard growler allows you to take a couple different beers

Hands on Review: Kegland Cannular Bench Top Can Seamer + An OUTSTANDING Deal!

Kegland Cannular Can Seamer

It’s been a long road for craft beer to be accepted in cans and not bottles. But it has been well established that cans are OK, too, and some take it even further to tout cans as a superior storage vessel for beer. I’ll avoid a full-blown comparison of the pros & cons of each, but I do feel it worth noting a couple of the selling points cans have. One is the claim that cans provide better storage with a more oxygen-proof seal than bottle caps, and 100% light blocking versus even brown colored glass. There is probably lots of debate on those two topics, but one benefit that is universally recognized is transportability. Cans are lighter and more compact, a whole lot less fragile, and you can take them to beaches and pools where glass containers are banned.

On the homebrew scale, until recently, the canners available have either been hand-crank monstrosities that look like an exhibit from a museum on the industrial revolution, or electrically driven units that look like steampunk movie props and cost a couple thousand dollars. Then in 2019, KegLand from Australia started exporting their Cannular can seamer that sells for $525 for the unit + power supply and is electrically powered. This changed the landscape significantly in the homebrew world, making canning much more within reach.

Empty CanLid on Foam

The Cannular operates with a combination of manual lever pulling and electric motor spinning. You start the process out with an empty aluminum can with no top on it. You sanitize the can, fill it with beer, and then take a sanitized lid and set it down on top of the can (ideally on foam, to ensure minimization of air in your canned product). From there, it gets placed on a small pedestal and a lever turn raises the can up into the machinery of the can seaming operation and locks it at that height. The push of a button gets the motor spinning and the can on its platform starts spinning around. Grabbing a different lever, you push back and hold it for a couple seconds, then pull it toward you for a couple seconds, and you’re done. Turn off the motor, lower your can back down on the pedestal, and you’ve canned one beer.

Applications:

PET Bottles as Growlers: These are generally intended to convert 1L and 2L bottles to growlers. Fill up a 1L or 2L PET bottle with your favorite homebrew. Put one of these on (purge the headspace by squeezing if you want to) and then pressurize for transport. This should help to reduce oxygen pickup and maintain carbonation levels.
Fine tune or rapidly carbonate beer: You can also use this cap to rapidly carbonate beer. Same process as for transport, just set your regulator to the proper pressure and shake or agitate the PET bottle to help introduce CO2. Or hook it up to CO2 and let it sit in you kegerator.

HALF Off Belgian Beer Bottle Corks at William’s Brewing

This 25.5mm by 34mm composite cork is specifically designed for corking Belgian Ales. This fits the Duval, Unibroue, and most American craft brew Belgian ale style bottles that are sealed with a cork.

This can be inserted in a Belgian style ale bottle with a floor corker only (a hand corker is not strong enough). You need to press down only part way when corking with a floor corker to sucessfully use these corks. Some brewers put a #6.5 stopper on the pushing shaft of their floor corker, so it does not go down all the way, preventing you from fully inserting this cork into a Belgian ale bottle (it is supposed to be inserted half way).

See the required wire tie downs when you put this in your cart. Wire tie downs can be secured with needlenose pliers. Pack of 30.

PET Bottles as Growlers: These are generally intended to convert 1L and 2L bottles to growlers. Fill up a 1L or 2L PET bottle with your favorite homebrew. Put one of these on (purge the headspace by squeezing if you want to) and then pressurize for transport. This should help to reduce oxygen pickup and maintain carbonation levels.
Fine tune or rapidly carbonate beer: You can also use this cap to rapidly carbonate beer. Same process as for transport, just set your regulator to the proper pressure and shake or agitate the PET bottle to help introduce CO2. Or hook it up to CO2 and let it sit in you kegerator.

Notes from HBF: Using new bottles saves time cleaning bottle labels and insures you have a completely clean and ready to sanitize bottle. I know of some homebrewers that use new bottles for every batch while some use new bottles for competitions and others buy new bottles and re-use time and time again. A six gallon food grade bucket for fermentation or bottling with a built in spigot. Outlet barb accepts 3/8″ ID vinyl tubing. To use as a fermenter you will need to pick up the optional lid, stopper, and an airlock. Includes our new Sediment Block Spigot, which will help minimize trub uptake as you rack after fermentation. If using this as a bottling bucket, simply rotate the spigot to maximize product output. Spigot includes gasket and sediment blocking lock nut and can easily be removed for cleaning and sanitizing.

If you use the bucket for fermentation be sure to use care when cleaning. Do not use any abrasive pads that would scratch. Once you get a scratch in a plastic bucket it is very hard to sanitize. This is also why we don’t recommend storing equipment in a bucket between uses as a fermenter. A hot PBW soak is often a perfect way to clean a bucket, followed by a Star San soak for killing bacteria.

Please note:

Buckets are translucent and do not come with lids.
Buckets are not designed to hold pressure.
Lids are not gasketed and so do not always form a perfect, airtight seal. Not intended for long-term storage.
Food-Grade to 180° F
