Potential Uses:

  • PET Bottles as Growlers: These are generally intended to convert 1L and 2L bottles to growlers.  Fill up a 1L or 2L PET bottle with your favorite homebrew.  Put one of these on (purge the headspace by squeezing if you want to) and then pressurize for transport.  This should help to reduce oxygen pickup and maintain carbonation levels.
  • Fine tune or rapidly carbonate beer: You can also use this cap to rapidly carbonate beer.  Same process as for transport, just set your regulator to the proper pressure and shake or agitate the PET bottle to help introduce CO2.  Or hook it up to CO2 and let it sit in you kegerator.

Potential Uses:  Help with cleanup on brew day, make your kegs shine like new (see photo below) and use around the kitchen and for BBQ.  I use similar gloves when I apply rub for smoking meats.  It helps to prevent against cross contamination and I also like that it helps keep my hands from smelling like… bbq rub.  If you’re a BBQ-er like me, check out…  BBQ Finds, it’s like Homebrew Finds, but for… BBQ.

I use protective gloves when dealing with harsh chemicals  The photo above is from my post on rebuilding kegs.  Here I’m using Bar Keepers Friend – Jump To: Section on Bar Keeper’s Friend – to clean a keg.  I used protective gloves several times during this process.

CIP (Clean in Place) Spray Balls are generally used for vessels that are too large to move.  Since they’re too large to move you… clean them in place.  If you have a larger setup, you could incorporate these into your system or routine to help clean your vessels more easily.

Other possible homebrew applications: A CIP ball could be as part of a recirculating or sparging setup or as part of a keg or carboy cleaning setup. I use a similar pump (different manufacturer, features and specifications) for a recirculating draft line cleaning setup.  Note that fittings sizes are different on this pump vs the one I use in that build.  Adjust accordingly  Another possible homebrewing application would be to set this up for use a part of a recirculating wort chiller setup.
