Applications:

  • PET Bottles as Growlers: These are generally intended to convert 1L and 2L bottles to growlers.  Fill up a 1L or 2L PET bottle with your favorite homebrew.  Put one of these on (purge the headspace by squeezing if you want to) and then pressurize for transport.  This should help to reduce oxygen pickup and maintain carbonation levels.
  • Fine tune or rapidly carbonate beer: You can also use this cap to rapidly carbonate beer.  Same process as for transport, just set your regulator to the proper pressure and shake or agitate the PET bottle to help introduce CO2.  Or hook it up to CO2 and let it sit in you kegerator.

One of the questions that arises on these type of carb caps, is… does it work with both liquid and gas posts?  Some models are universal fit and some work only with gas posts.  For draft line cleaning projects to work well, at least in my opinion, the carb cap that’s used needs to be universal.  I’m happy to report that the one I received did indeed work with both liquid and ball lock posts.  Check product description for current specs.

This is a rechargeable power sprayer that you can use to spray sanitizers and cleaners (see: Star San Tips & Tricks for details on the spray bottle method of sanitizing). The fact that it’s usb-c rechargeable means that you don’t need a manual sprayer to dispense solution. That’s amazing!

Beyond that a ball lock adapter is available that converts this into ball lock line cleaner!

I use a similar pump (different manufacturer, features and specifications) for a recirculating draft line cleaning setup.  Note that fittings sizes are different on this pump vs the one I use in that build.  Adjust accordingly  Another possible homebrewing application would be to set this up for use a part of a recirculating wort chiller setup.

I use a similar pump (different manufacturer, features and specifications) for a recirculating draft line cleaning setup.  Note that fittings sizes are different on this pump vs the one I use in that build.  Adjust accordingly  Another possible homebrewing application would be to set this up for use a part of a recirculating wort chiller setup.

Kegerator Draft Line Cleaning Options! + Ball Lock Jumpers Available for Pre-Order

Clean kegerator lines are a key part of serving delicious beer. Bacteria and mineral build in lines can cause off flavors, quick loss of head, under-carbonated beer due to rapid co2 loss and lack of legs forming on the inside of your beer glass.

How Often Should I Clean My Beer Lines?

The Draught Quality Beer Manual says… every two weeks.

That recommendation is for a commercial operation.  What about homebrewers?  We serve far fewer beer on our kegerators, but on the other hand, we can have been on tap and in lines 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.  Considering all of this, my recommendation is to clean home kegerator beer lines every 1 to 2 months.

To clean your kegerator or keezer beer lines lines, just fill your PET soda bottle with diluted BLC cleaner, attach your beer ball lock to the top ball lock, and pump to force cleaner through the lines and out the faucet. Let lines soak for 30 minutes with BLC in them before rinsing with warm water.

Keep in mind this hand pump is not designed for high pressures, and will only pump to about 8 PSI, which is more than enough to push cleanser through beer lines.

Cleans Kegs

  • This keg washer cleans and sanitizes a cornelius keg without having to take apart the ball lock fittings, poppets, and dip tubes. You can clean the keg and the dip tube simultaneously using the T adapter.

Cleans Parts

The keg washer does not have an on/off switch, you can plug it directly into a wall outlet to operate the pump or plug it into an outlet that is controlled by a switch. Never leave the keg washer unattended when in use.

When in use, fill the keg washer up to about 1 inch under the brim. The pump is not self priming, so always make sure the basin is full of water before plugging in the pump.

Owner’s Manual is included. Please read thoroughly before using. Dimensions of the inside of the washer’s reservoir are: 6″L x 12″W x 4″D.
