Their Buna-N option is FDA rated for food contact. Buna-N offers low permeability (even less than silicone) and similar to pricier EPDM. That means less oxygen ingress.

My explanation of how this works…

When we carbonate a keg, pressure is being applied to the keg from the top, via the head space. Beer at the top carbonates first. That carbonation works it’s way down the keg. I’m sure there’s also some movement in the keg that helps to mix things up and distribute carbonation. But just sitting there, I think that mixing is a slow process. However it all works, practically speaking, the beer at the top carbonates more quickly compared to the beer at the bottom. This allows you to serve from the top accessing the more carbonated portion of the keg. It’s also a benefit for clarity because trub settles out heading downward. You can see this stratification in a glass carboy. As the beer starts to clear, the top clears first. I don’t think if this is exactly accurate, but I picture carbonation happening with the same sort of stratification until the beer reaches equilibrium and is equally carbonated throughout.

Bulk Keg QD Quick Disconnect Replacement O-Rings – Save Money, Buy in Bulk

Ball Lock and Pin Lock Keg QDs have an internal o-ring gasket that keeps liquid and gas from leaking out the top side.

I’ve found that it’s pretty easy to lose these.  Beyond that, they wear out and crack.  I’ve also had some that have gotten seated incorrectly and ended up becoming mis-formed so that they no longer sit properly.

  • 🍺Easy installation: Installing this replacement cap is as easy as drinking beer: Simply slide the Cornelius keg lid into the opening of your beer or soda keg and push down the lid clamp – no screwdriver or wrench necessary.
  • 🍺Avoid excess pressure: For your safety and to avoid excess pressure, this keg cover comes with an integrated pressure relief valve. Simply pull out the valve ring and the gas inside the keg will escape immediately. Also, if the pressure exceeds 60 PSI the valve will release gas automatically.
  • 🍺Get a spare O-ring: It is common for gaskets to get damaged after a while due to the constant pressure they are under. Thankfully, this set includes a spare tri-clamp silicone washer which you can use as a replacement to prevent any leaks around your TC connections.

CornyKeg 10 Gallon Ball Lock kegs have one strong tubular handle welded to the top. The keg itself is 304 stainless steel and comes with a pull ring relief valve in the lid. The opening on these kegs have the monster mouth size lid and opening. These are brand new kegs and have never had anything in them. These kegs can be stacked on top of each other even with the connectors installed. Great for your big batch brews or larger batch bar and restaurant cocktail kegs.

For whatever reason, it’s difficult to find food safe keg o-rings.  Maybe some of the o-rings that are available are food safe, but very few are actually labeled as such.

When DuoTights first came out, the solution for connecting kegs to EVABarrier was using an MFL QD + DuoTight Flare fitting. That works just fine and is still the only option available to pin lock keg users.

These Ball Lock Corny Kegs are a sturdy, reliable keg with the MoreBeer! seal of approval. These corny kegs are cleaned, de-labeled, sanitized, pressure tested and guaranteed to hold pressure upon delivery.

Every Ball Lock Cornelius Keg has a 5 gallon capacity and a rubber top and bottom. While these are used kegs with slight cosmetic damages, these light dings and scratches have no effect the keg’s performance. The relief valves, poppets and gaskets on these used kegs are not replaced before shipping, but we sell all of these items separately if you’d like to replace them yourself at home (part numbers KEG540, KEG450 & KEG500). If you’re looking for a truly economical way to serve your beer at home, this Ball Lock Cornelius Keg is a great option.

  • Used keg with minor cosmetic damage only
  • Ball lock corny kegs measure approximately 8.5″ (diameter) x 25″ (height) x 26 1/4″ Height with flare fittings
  • Soda kegs may come with either 11/16 inch body connects or 7/8″ body connects
  • Purchase deep sockets to remove body connects (part numbers KEG991 and KEG992)
