Every Ball Lock Cornelius Keg has a 5 gallon capacity and a rubber top and bottom. While these are used kegs with slight cosmetic damages, these light dings and scratches have no effect the keg’s performance. The relief valves, poppets and gaskets on these used kegs are not replaced before shipping, but we sell all of these items separately if you’d like to replace them yourself at home (part numbers KEG540, KEG450 & KEG500). The opening on these kegs have the monster mouth size lid and opening. These are brand new kegs and have never had anything in them. These kegs can be stacked on top of each other even with the connectors installed. Great for your big batch brews or larger batch bar and restaurant cocktail kegs.

Father’s Day Deal on… FDA Rated EPDM O-Rings from Valuebrew – Low Permeability, Less Oxygen & Off-Flavors

Valuebrew has announced the availability of bulk EPDM o-rings for homebrewers.  EPDM is a favorite of many pro brewers for certain applications. Until now, these have not been available to homebrewers, or at least easily available. EPDM has some real advantages over silicone. One of the big ones is a much lower permeability. That means they seal better and since they’re less porous they are more resistant to absorbing off-smells and off-flavors.

They are FDA Rated for food use and NSF61 certified. As of this posting, post, dip tube, lid and internal QD options are available in 10, 25 and 50 count options. Valuebrew has struggled mightily with availability and they’ve already made some indications of potential issues with new EPDM offerings. In particular, the lid o-ring description says they received a small shipment.

These may be cheap, but wait…

Food Safe Materials

The problem: At one point I had an o-ring manufacturer reach out to me that had found this resource while trying to do some market research.  This manufacturer suggested that many of the products that homebrewer’s use are made out of industrial grade materials that should not be in contact with food & beverage products.  These materials could potentially contain materials that are not meant to be ingested.

Okay, that’s a little concerning.  It was at this point that I added a section to that resource that talked about the issue.  I also started adding disclaimers to posts when I was unsure whether or not materials were food grade.

The next problem: For whatever reason, in my experience, it’s extremely difficult to find offerings that claim to be safe for food contact.  Maybe some of the o-rings that are available are food safe, but very few are actually labeled as such.

Keep Reading Food Safe Replacement Keg O-Rings in Bulk

As if this update on 6/10/2024:

  • I don’t anything on the MRbrew gasket set product page that mentions these being made of food safe materials.
  • I do see (in one of the graphics)… Durable Silicone Rubber & Rubber & Hard Plastic… what does that mean??
  • Food Safe Replacement O-Rings: My recommendation is to purchase food grade o-rings. The supplier that I’ve been able to count on for food grade orings and gaskets is Valuebrew – Food Safe Replacement Keg O-Rings

These Ball Lock Corny Kegs are a sturdy, reliable keg with the MoreBeer! seal of approval. These corny kegs are cleaned, de-labeled, sanitized, pressure tested and guaranteed to hold pressure upon delivery.

Every Ball Lock Cornelius Keg has a 5 gallon capacity and a rubber top and bottom. While these are used kegs with slight cosmetic damages, these light dings and scratches have no effect the keg’s performance. The relief valves, poppets and gaskets on these used kegs are not replaced before shipping, but we sell all of these items separately if you’d like to replace them yourself at home (part numbers KEG540, KEG450 & KEG500). If you’re looking for a truly economical way to serve your beer at home, this Ball Lock Cornelius Keg is a great option.

  • Used keg with minor cosmetic damage only
  • Ball lock corny kegs measure approximately 8.5″ (diameter) x 25″ (height) x 26 1/4″ Height with flare fittings
  • Soda kegs may come with either 11/16 inch body connects or 7/8″ body connects
  • Purchase deep sockets to remove body connects (part numbers KEG991 and KEG992)

Food Safe Materials

The problem: At one point I had an o-ring manufacturer reach out to me that had found this resource while trying to do some market research.  This manufacturer suggested that many of the products that homebrewer’s use are made out of industrial grade materials that should not be in contact with food & beverage products.  These materials could potentially contain materials that are not meant to be ingested.

Okay, that’s a little concerning.  It was at this point that I added a section to that resource that talked about the issue.  I also started adding disclaimers to posts when I was unsure whether or not materials were food grade.

The next problem: For whatever reason, in my experience, it’s extremely difficult to find offerings that claim to be safe for food contact.  Maybe some of the o-rings that are available are food safe, but very few are actually labeled as such.

Keep Reading Food Safe Replacement Keg O-Rings in Bulk

As if this update on 6/17/2024:

  • I don’t anything on the product page that mentions these being made of food safe materials.
  • Food Safe Replacement O-Rings: My recommendation is to purchase food grade o-rings. The supplier that I’ve been able to count on for food grade orings and gaskets is Valuebrew – Food Safe Replacement Keg O-Rings

BEST Deal Ever on FDA Rated EPDM O-Rings from Valuebrew – Low Permeability, Less Oxygen & Off-Flavors

Valuebrew has announced the availability of bulk EPDM o-rings for homebrewers.  EPDM is a favorite of many pro brewers for certain applications. Until now, these have not been available to homebrewers, or at least easily available. EPDM has some real advantages over silicone. One of the big ones is a much lower permeability. That means they seal better and since they’re less porous they are more resistant to absorbing off-smells and off-flavors.

They are FDA Rated for food use and NSF61 certified. As of this posting, post, dip tube, lid and internal QD options are available in 10, 25 and 50 count options. Valuebrew has struggled mightily with availability and they’ve already made some indications of potential issues with new EPDM offerings. In particular, the lid o-ring description says they received a small shipment.
