Ditch the bottles and start kegging today! Save time, reduce the risk of infection and get all those bottles out of the kitchen for good!
Brand new 5 gallon Kegland kegs offer convenience, security and insurance when compared to used or reconditioned kegs. There’s no need to replace gaskets or other parts, no need to trust that someone else did a good job with reconditioning, and no possibility of residual flavor or aromas getting into your beer!
Replace damaged posts on your compatible ball lock keg or convert compatible pin lock kegs to ball lock. How to Find Your Keg Model
The product description mentions converting pin lock keg to ball lock. Pin locks typically have 9/16-18 thread, so I doubt this will work with most pin lock kegs.

AEB has been manufacturing stainless steel drums, tanks and… kegs in their facility in Andalo Valtellino, Italy for over 30 years.
AEB leans hard into their Italian roots… “THE MADE IN ITALY IS OUR IDENTITY” can be seen plastered on their website in all caps. If I were to take a read on homebrewing, my read is that the general sentiment is that AEB kegs are among the highest quality kegs available to homebrewers. Just a guess and certainly a generalization.
In my opinion AEB makes the highest quality ball lock kegs currently available. See my in depth hands on review for lots more info.

Do you want to save money on kegging? Oxebar kegs are made from Oxebar Mono which is a PET polymer blend that has increased barrier properties versus standard PET plastic. What this means is you can store your beer in economical Oxebar kegs for as long as 6 months without oxygen ingress and C02 loss. Of course, the greatest thing about Oxebar is the cost savings: compare and save!
The lineup includes kegs in a variety of sizes and tapping heads.
As of this posting William’s Brewing is discounting all Oxebar kegs and accessories by 15%.
No coupon code required, discount reflected in cart.
Note from HBF: One difference between Pin Lock and Ball Lock kegs is the type of lids that come with each. Ball Locks, generally, have a manual PRV valve, while Pin Locks do not. Ball Lock style lids are, in my opinion, superior because the manual PRV allows you to easily vent your keg as needed. The good news is that, for standard kegs, the lids are the same size and can be interchanged. That means you can use a Ball Lock style lid in a Pin Lock Keg.

Valuebrew offers a lineup of food grade keg replacement o-rings in bulk quantities. Most offerings are silicone or EPDM with one Buna-N option. Everything they carry is food grade, more info below. They have some unique offerings like bulk pin lock size post o-rings, replacement universal poppet o-rings, bulk internal QD o-rings and color coded Blue and Green post o-rings
For whatever reason, it’s difficult to find food safe keg o-rings. Maybe some of the o-rings that are available are food safe, but very few are actually labeled as such.

Used & Tested, Ball Lock Keg, With Pressure Relief Valve
Used & Pressure Tested – Ball Lock – Includes Pressure Relief Valve Lid
Cleaned and pressure tested 5 gallon, stainless steel, cornelius style tank. These tanks are guaranteed to hold pressure. 25″ tall and 8.5″ diameter. Tanks will show normal wear and tear.
Kegs include the o-rings and poppits that were installed when we received the tanks. We will often change an o-ring or poppit to get the tank to hold pressure. Grab new o-rings and poppits here if you’d like.
If you are just getting into kegging you will need a kegging setup to go with these kegs. We sell keg systems and have a whole lot more kegging options.
We know some homebrewers are more picky than others, so please keep in mind that these are USED kegs. Some of these kegs are probably 30 years old. Do not expect new kegs. If you are looking for new kegs, please check out our new kegs. With this said, they are going to show normal wear and tear. We are not implying that our kegs are not quality…we just want to avoid any misunderstandings.
If you are unhappy with your used 5 Gallon Cornelius Kegs for any reason, we will gladly take them back. The purchaser will be responsible for return shipping charges.
As of this update Northern Brewer and their vanity brand AIH have used ball locks for a whopping $84.99.
Shipping is an extra cost. For me it’s $18.94 (this is going to vary based on where you live). That figures to $103.93.
OR, RECONDITIONED Ball Locks at Beverage Elements for about…. $55.17 (or less) per keg shipped!
Our 5 gallon reconditioned ball lock keg, both new and fully reconditioned, are far and away our most popular kegs — and for good reason. Reconditioned kegs are a great way to get the capacity and quality of a true brewer’s keg when you’re just getting started with in-home brewing: you can craft your very own beer, soda, Kombucha tea, cold brew coffee, nitro coffee and more, all at a great, affordable price.
But used kegs are leaky, sticky, and completely beat, right? Not at Beverage Elements. All our used kegs have been reconditioned right here, in house: we clean, sanitize, de-label, and pressure-check each and every one. Even though your reconditioned keg might not be brand new, you’ll never know it. Check out a few of the features and benefits you’ll be getting with this reconditioned ball lock keg.
(Class 1) Keg Features
Cleaned, sanitized, de-labeled and pressure-checked
Manual pressure relief built into the lid for easy depressurization
Durable stainless steel body and dual rubber handles
O-rings replaced during pressure check if necessary. Pro Tip: keep a spare set on hand at all times, since O-rings sometimes crack in transit and during keg cleaning
True ball lock keg — not converted pin lock
Great for homebrew beer, soda, Kombucha tea, nitro coffee, and cold brew coffee
Keg Specifications
Keg body of 304 stainless steel
Approved by the NSF
8.5″ diameter x 25″ height — dimensions may vary slightly from wear
This is a Class 1 reconditioned ball lock keg. That’s the best condition of our reconditioned kegs — however, it is still used. It may have some scratches, dents, and other signs of use
As of this posting Beverage Elements has these for just $39.95. That’s an outstanding deal! For some pricing clarity, we featured these kegs back in March of 2017. At that time they were MORE. $49.90 each and you had to buy a two pack to get that price.
Shipping for me (again this is going to vary is) $15.22 that’s just $55.17 shipped!
It’s worth noting that shipping (again for me) is the same for either 1 or 2 kegs! That means the shipped per keg price is just $47.56 when you buy two.

When we carbonate a keg, pressure is being applied to the keg from the top, via the head space. Beer at the top carbonates first. That carbonation works it’s way down the keg. I’m sure there’s also some movement in the keg that helps to mix things up and distribute carbonation. But just sitting there, I think that mixing is a slow process. However it all works, practically speaking, the beer at the top carbonates more quickly compared to the beer at the bottom. This allows you to serve from the top accessing the more carbonated portion of the keg. It’s also a benefit for clarity because trub settles out heading downward. You can see this stratification in a glass carboy. As the beer starts to clear, the top clears first. I don’t think if this is exactly accurate, but I picture carbonation happening with the same sort of stratification until the beer reaches equilibrium and is equally carbonated throughout.
Benefits of Fermenting Under Pressure + The Challenges of Dry Hopping Under Pressure
Fermenting under pressure has some great benefits. One of the challenges that using this method presents is… dry hopping. When fermenting under pressure the beer is carbonated. Adding dry hops to a fermented and carbonated beer, especially one at relatively warm fermentation temps equates to a Mentos+Diet Coke sort of situation. The hops provide lots and lots of nucleation points that can cause the beer to erupt expelling foam all over the place in the process denaturing head retaining proteins.
FermZilla fermenters from Kegland have a ready made solution called the Hop Bong. It allows you easily dry hop under pressure. Since the beer and dry hops are under pressure you don’t have foaming problems when dry hopping.

Valuebrew has struggled with availability on some of their options. This has been particularly true of their keg lid o-rings.
This has been especially true of the bulk silicone lid o-rings

Cornelius Keg “or Firestone”, 5 Gallon, Ball Lock – Pepsi Style for Homebrew/Soda, Used | CLEANED
More Info
From the product description, check product page for current description, price and availability:
This is a re-conditioned 5 gallon ball lock, soda keg. They are sometimes called “corny kegs” because of the manufacturer, Cornelius, but they can be made by several manufactures including Firestone, AEB, and others. These kegs have been cleaned and pressure tested using the following process:
Rinsed out with water on the inside and sprayed on the outside.
Soaked in a hot “Brew Clean” solution for about an hour with poppet valves depressed to fill dip tubes with cleaning solution. Then re-rinsed.
The keg is then pressurized and soap tested for leaks, then left for several days and re-tested for pressure before shipping.
If you keg has a “sweet” smell when you open it this is normal. This smell comes from the residual “Brew Clean” cleaner, NOT from soda. Just rinse the keg and sanitize again before kegging.
These kegs ship under our flat rate shipping (some of our competitors exclude kegs from free or reduced flat rate shipping programs).
These kegs come with their original O-rings AND a new set of O-rings at no additional charge(some competitors charge up to $3.99 for this new set of O-rings) This O-ring set includes Lid O-ring, two post O-rings and two dip-tube O-rings.
Please remember that these are used kegs. They will have dings, dents, stickers on the outside and could have some permanent staining that will not effect your beer. The tops and bottoms may have black material coming off that will leave black marks on your hands or other areas. This is due to sun exposure and is very common in used kegs. If you want a perfect keg we sell new kegs as well.
Again – these are used kegs and are returnable but you will pay the shipping to return them.
For a limited time, Keg Connection has these kegs marked down a whopping $20 to $59.95.
Save ANOTHER 5%… HBF Readers Save More! Coupon code HBF5OFF saves you another 5%.That makes these kegs $56.95.
These kegs hold pressure and work fine, but have some more significant dents. They may have a broken handle or loose rubber top or bottom or an excessive amount of labels. These are refurbished ball lock Pepsi Style kegs with all new orings and a manual pull-ring relief valve. Photo shows example kegs, but are priced each.
As of this posting these are on sale for $42.95. Check site for current price & availability.
