Gas Quick Disconnects with Built in Shut Off Valves

Colder PLCD17004 Acetal Tube Fitting, Coupler, Shutoff, In-Line, 1/4" Flow Coupler x 1/4" Barb

PLCD17004 Coupler by Colder Products Company

1/4″ Flow Coupler x 1/4″ Barb.  Max Pressure 120 PSI.  Operating Temps -40 to 180 deg F.  NSF Rated.  Meets – FDA, USDA, NSF and ROHS specifications.

This has an integral inline shutoff valve.  That means when you disengage/de-couple this QD is stops the flow of gas.

I use similar QDs on the gas side of my system.  With those, I can swap out lines, remove lines from my kegerator and add on utility devices.  You could also use these to easy swap between ball and pin lock lines.

Colder PLCD17004 Acetal Tube Fitting, Coupler, Shutoff, In-Line, 1/4″ Flow Coupler x 1/4″ Barb

Colder PLCD22004 Acetal Tube Fitting, Insert, Shutoff, In-Line, 1/4″ Insert x 1/4″Barb

There are also straight through versions of this coupler.  Those do not have the inline check valve and will release pressure when you disengage.  See: PLC17004 and PLC22004.  The inline QDs are also cross compatible with shutoff versions.

3 Way Expandable CO2 Manifold – $28.99, Limited Supply + Hands on Review

1057

3 Way Expandable CO2 Manifold.  Each connection has a check valve and a shut off valve.  For gas, I prefer barbs over flare connections.  This has 5/16″ barbs but you can also use 1/4″ ID tubing.  There aren’t a lot of things in homebrewing that grow with you.  For example, when you get ready to go from concentrated boils to full extract boils, you cannot buy an add on for your 4 gallon kettle . 🙂  This manifold is an exception, if the need arises, you can get an add-on and expand this manifold.  Check out my Hands on Review of this great system

Paintball CO2 Cylinder to Draft Regulator Adapter – Portable CO2 for Serving Draft Beer

the_adapter_co2_regulator_to_paintball_tank_adapter_close_up

That adapter allows you to connect a standard CO2 Regulator to a Paintball CO2 Tank.  That makes it a lot easier to serve your draft beer on the go.

About: Made of anodized Aluminum, this adapter allows you to attach a paintball CO2 tank to your existing keg system CO2 regulator. Why buy expensive secondary equipment that only has one purpose when you can make use of your existing equipment!

Makes portability of your homebrew a breeze! Perfect for camping, boating, picnics, parties, events or just sitting in your backyard! While we do not recommend this for carbonating (we just don’t like using all of our CO2 at once), this is perfect for dispensing.

Add on a regulator or paint ball CO2 tank to make your system portable now!  All CO2 tanks are shipped empty.

As of this posting, this is marked down to just $5.99.  Price, shipping and availability can change quickly.  Check the product page for up to the minute price and availability.

Balancing Your Kegerator Draft System

I had the pleasure of attending the HomebrewCon held in Grand Rapids, Michigan several years ago.  If you didn’t have the chance to go, or even if you did, the AHA provides seminar recordings for that conference.  In fact they provide recordings going all the way back to 2012’s conference.  This is a member’s only benefit.  If you’re not a member of the AHA, I think you should consider joining.  Access to conference materials is only one of many benefits.  Join nowLooking for a deal?

Pair of Beer & Gas Tubing Quick Disconnects with Shutoff – $11.95, Limited Availability

Beer & Gas Quick Connect - In-Line Set (With Shut-Off) H550

Beer & Gas Quick Connect – In-Line Set (With Shut-Off) from MoreBeer

From the product description, check product page for current description, price and availability:

Use these high quality, food-grade quick-disconnects on your gas and beer tubing lines. Uses might include the following:

  • On a gas system to unhook your tank and regulator from your manifold so you take it with you.
  • On a beer line to easily switch between ball lock, pin-lock, or a commercial tap
  • On a counter-pressure bottle filler to be able to easily connect to your existing gas line.

This plastic quick disconnect set features 1/4″ barb which can be used with tubing ID 3/16″ through 5/16″. The quick disconnect functionality is activated by a shrouded thumb latch. The temperature range is -40F to 180F. They can handle a vacuum to 120 psi – so you need not worry about them leaking gas. The internal valve spring is 316 type stainless steel and the o-ring is food grade buna-n.

These quick disconnects have an integrated shut off valve.  When you disconnect them valves engage so beer or CO2 don’t continue to flow.  I use similar disconnects for the CO2 side of my kegerator.  They also work on the liquid side.  These are food grade.
