Keezers are one of the cool inventions homebrewers brought to the world of household appliances. Homemade kegerators and freezers converted to storing and dispensing homebrew allow homebrewers to exercise their creative muscle. Breaking down the function of the homebrew keezer, there are three main categories: 1) Providing CO2 to the beer, 2) Keeping the beer cold, and 3) Serving the beer. For sure, the category of serving the beer is where all the bling comes in, with different style taps and fancy tap handles. But this review is about some gear for the less flashy side- providing CO2 to the beer.

The ITC-308 comes in the original version as well as an updated Wi-Fi enabled model. This review covers both editions of this controller.
Why a Temp Controller?
Temperature controllers, sometimes referred to as over-riding thermostats, can control devices like refrigerators, freezers and fermentation heating devices to provide a consistent temperature for your kegerator, fermentation chamber or brew system. They do this by monitoring the temperature and cycling on and off the device in question. Generally, you will set the device to full cooling or heating power and the temperature controller takes over from there.
Check Prices, Current Specs & Availability, Review Continues Below:
Dual stage means that the ITC-308 can control both a heating and cooling device. Alternatively, it can control a heating or a cooling device. This controller displays in Fahrenheit and Centigrade. Dual Display shows both measured and set temperature.
CO2 manifolds allow you to feed multiple kegs off one co2 regulator. Things to look for in a capable manifold are shut-off valves for each trunk and check valves. Check valves makes sure flow goes the right directly. This is important for CO2 manifolds because differences in pressure make it possible for liquid to back flow through gas lines.
Keg Connection has an extensive lineup of CO2 manifolds. They sport check valves, MFL barbs (choose from 1/4″ or 5/16″) and ball valves for each run. the body is crafted from extruded aluminum. These are also tested for leaks. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 way configurations are available
This particular model has MFL ball valves. You can also choose and MFL inlet port. Because you can choose MFL/flare for all connections, that means you can easily convert it to DuoTight. See my post on putting together a DuoTight Manifold
For whatever reason MFL equipped manifolds are harder to find.
For a limited time Keg Connection has their entire lineup marked down a whopping 30%. They say these are the lowest prices of the year.
Shipping is a flat fee no matter how much you order to addressed in the contiguous US.
As of this posting, Keg Connection is offering race track style ball lock kegs for just $25 when you put together a cart of $150 or more.
The full retail price of $50 counts towards the $150, so add one of these to your cart and at least $100 of additional gear and the price will automatically drop to $25.
These is a stellar deal!

3 Way CO2 Distributor with Check Valves via Keg Connection
More Info
From the product description, check product page for current description, price and availability:
CO2 Air Distributor / Manifold for Draft Beer with Check Valves, 3 Way
Assembled in the USA from high quality components, by our experienced staff for over 15 years. We take price in every air distributor we make and provide you with a 5 year, written warranty.
Vigorously tested under pressure using an industry standard soap leak test method.
We use both Teflon and NSF approved, USA made, Rectorseal “Tru-Blu” Pipe Thread Sealant for a double leak proof seal. These products also allow for easy removal for changes or future repairs. It is also vibration resistant.
Customize to fit your needs. Change inlet and outlet sizes.
You can use this to expand current air distributors / manifolds. Just choose 1/4″ MPT and add to existing body!
Our bodies are made from quality extruded aluminum and we use high quality brass components.
Check valves are used to ensure gas goes out, but no liquid can come back in should you have a negative pressure situation. This can happen with beer and soda distribution and damage regulators or other components, make sure your air distributor has check valves! The valves are constructed of brass and the valves can turn off in either direction.
Features mounting holes for easy mounting in Kegerators, Keezers or on a wall.
Can be used for splitting beer lines between different kegs of beer, soda, kombucha or other liquids. Can also be used for force carbonating situations. Turn off all the other valves and use one or more to force carbonate. You can always turn off lines independently that you are not using.
Kegland’s DuoTight Fittings are designed to work with EVABarrier Double Wall Tubing. They offer quick, reliable connections, easy implementation, a variety of fitting options and feature amazing versatility. They’re also, generally speaking, very well priced. DuoTights are push to connect fittings and require no tubing clamps.
I’ve done several pressure tests with DuoTight Fittings and EVABarrier Tubing. Each test has proven the tested components were leak free. Having said that, it’s entirely possible that you’ll have a leak. This happens with any tubing system, that’s why we… check for leaks.
I have a write up for addressing DuoTight Leaks that will walk you through some things to check.
Limited Time DEAL (includes the DuoTight compatible locking clips featured in this write-up):
For a short time, Valuebrew is discounting most of their gear including bulk food grade o-rings (i
Valuebrew offers a lineup of food grade keg replacement o-rings in bulk quantities. Most offerings are silicone or EPDM with one Buna-N option. Everything they carry is food grade, more info below. They have some unique offerings like bulk pin lock size post o-rings, replacement universal poppet o-rings, bulk internal QD o-rings and color coded Blue and Green post o-rings
Use coupon code AFTERCHRISTMAS with an order of $30 or more to get the deal
One of the things that I do that really helps is use Valuebrew’s DuoTight Compatible Locking Clips. These snap into the collar of DuoTight Fittings and lock connections in place. This makes the connection more secure and reduces the chances of leakage.
This controller can control both a heating and cooling device. Alternatively, it can control a heating or a cooling device.
In my opinion the original ITC-308 was and is a game changer as far as homebrew temp controllers. In comparison to available controllers available at the time the ITC-308 was released, it offered loads more features, including dual stage control, for a fraction of the price. Game changer! The addition of Wi-Fi control and monitoring to this great controller has made a great temp controller even better. Check out our Hands on Review of the ITC-308. That includes a section on the WiFi version.

This reconditioned 5 gallon ball lock keg is our absolute best bargain in a used keg. They may not pack all the beauty of other kegs, but they’ve got your back when it comes to drinking.
These are the true party animals of the used keg set— each of these 5 gallon ball lock kegs had way too much fun in a prior life. They may have even seen a bar fight or six, but they still know how to hold their own under pressure (they’ve been tested to make sure).
Like all of our ball lock kegs, these reconditioned beauties have all the important good stuff where it counts, as well as one more serious plus—they’re an unbelievably affordable way to store your beer, soda, cold brew and nitro coffee, Kombucha tea, and any other beverage of your choice.
These have been sold out for a good while now.
As of this update, they’re back in stock at just $34.95.
This is a stellar deal.
When these become available, they typically don’t last for long. Get them while you can!

The Top Draw Beer Pickup Tube from William’s Brewing!
More Info
From the product description, check product page for current description, price and availability:
Do you want to drink the clearest beer possible from your keg as quickly as possible? The Top Draw® Beer Pick Up Tube fits any ball or pin lock keg, and replaces the rigid stainless dip tube with a stainless float pick up on a 23″ food grade silicone hose. This flexible hose holds a 1″ stainless beer pickup tube which is held 1″ below the surface of the beer by the float. As the level of the beer in the keg drops, the pick up tube remains 1″ below the surface, always drawing the clearest beer all the way until empty. The stainless float ball itself is 1.75″ in diameter.
Installs in a couple minutes – just unscrew the beer post on your ball lock keg, insert the provided short pick up tube, and attach the silicone tubing to the underside of the tube. Now dangle the hole assembly in the keg and you are done. For shorter kegs, cut the silicone tube to length.
If you carbonate by C02 injection, you can also convert your keg to one that carbonates quicker, and clears faster. To do this (Cornelius threaded post kegs only), unscrew both posts and remove both dip tubes. Then on the IN side of the keg, install the long beer pickup tube and screw on the GAS side fitting (the one with a notch on the base nut). Then on the OUT side of the keg, install the Top Draw® Dip Tube, and screw on the BEER side fitting (the one without a notch in the base nut). Now when you attach the C02 to carbonate, it will bubble up from the bottom of the keg, carbonating quicker. When you dispense, the floating dip tube will make sure you get only the clearest beer from near the surface.
The only downside to this switch is your gas line is connected to a beer dip tube, and if the pressure in your gas line drops to less than the pressure in the keg, your gas line will fill with beer. This can be prevented with a ball or pin lock check valve like our items P77 and P78, or with an in line check valve like our item D37.
Includes 22″ of tubing, 304 grade stainless float with attached pickup tube, and short replacement stainless beer dip tube with seating O ring.
My explanation of how this works…
When we carbonate a keg, pressure is being applied to the keg from the top, via the head space. Beer at the top carbonates first. That carbonation works it’s way down the keg. I’m sure there’s also some movement in the keg that helps to mix things up and distribute carbonation. But just sitting there, I think that mixing is a slow process. However it all works, practically speaking, the beer at the top carbonates more quickly compared to the beer at the bottom. This allows you to serve from the top accessing the more carbonated portion of the keg. It’s also a benefit for clarity because trub settles out heading downward. You can see this stratification in a glass carboy. As the beer starts to clear, the top clears first. I don’t think if this is exactly accurate, but I picture carbonation happening with the same sort of stratification until the beer reaches equilibrium and is equally carbonated throughout.
This is on sale for just $9.99. That’s a whopping 33% off list.

MoreBeer 6-Gallon Torpedo Keg
Keg Label
Sometimes ideas come along that seem so obvious in hindsight. Every fermentor I have is 7+ gallons. I like that because it gives me plenty of headroom for krausen from active fermentation. It also allows me to brew a bigger batch in the event I have a lot of dry hopping. But with the bigger fermentors, I will frequently have leftover beer after transferring to the keg. Not a lot, and not always, but it just feels wrong to leave that beer behind. So the 6-gallon keg is a logical fit for me.
Keg DiameterKeg Height Measurement
Torpedo Keg is a brand name of a series of ball lock kegs. They use the same size lid and follow the same standard of ball lock posts. But unlike Corny kegs that have rubber bottoms and tops, Torpedo kegs are made completely of stainless steel. The top/handle portion of the keg is taller, specifically to let you stack kegs on top of each other while still having gas and beer lines connected to the keg. There is also a Slimline version which has a slightly narrower diameter in exchange for a taller height. The 6-Gallon torpedo keg has a 9.125” diameter, and is 27.25” tall. In comparison, the standard ball lock Corny keg has an 8.375” diameter and 24.75” height. Although comparing these heights on paper can be deceiving since the Torpedo keg’s tall handles cover the height of attached ball lock fittings as well (additional 1.5” measured with my DuoTight fittings).
