Inline CO2 Regulator [control each keg separately] – $7.91 via 12% Off Flash Sale + Hands on Review & Hacks

Inline Secondary Regulator via MoreBeer!

From the product description, check product page for current description, price and availability:

An ideal solution if you want to serve different beers at different gas pressures. In a typical multiple line, multiple pressure system you would run a gas line from you main regulator into a secondary regulator where you would set different pressures. While that is ideal it is a little pricey. This little sweetheart lets you set different pressures at a far lower cost. What we do is set the main regulator at the highest pressure we want in the system – for example a keg of soda that you want to carbonate and serve at 25 psi. Run the gas line into a manifold and then install one of these after the manifold on each line where you want to decrease the pressure, for example lowering to 10psi to serve your British pale ale and 14 psi to serve your summertime lawnmower lager.

While this unit does not have a pressure gauge you can use an adjustable relief valve/spunding valve on your keg to tell the pressure. Pressure adjusments can be made with a screwdriver.

The maximum inlet pressure is 150 psi. Made from non corrosive acetyl, nitrile, and stainless parts. The regulator comes with two brass barbs to fit 3/16″ tubing on. Alternatively, you can remove the barbs and use 1/4″ tubing directly on the regulator. The aluminum manifolds linked above feature 1/4″ barbed outlets and are a good match with this regulator.

  • Works with 0 – 150 psi
  • Works with both gas and liquid
  • Comes with two brass barbs
  • Has two mounting points
  • Made from non corrosive acetyl, nitrile, and stainless parts

Notes from HBF: This is an inline secondary regulator.  You still need a primary regulator attached to your CO2 tank.  The idea is, you set the primary to the highest pressure you will use (without exceeding specifications of any component of your system) and then use these regulators inline (one per line) to fine tune pressure and carbonation [See: Balancing Your Draft System].  As an example, you could set your primary to 25 PSI for faster force carbonation and set each line to a different pressure based on desired carbonation level.  Since this does not have a gauge, you need some sort of a gauge to use for tuning this in.  The gauge doesn’t have to stay connected, just while you’re setting the regulator.  This is a perfect application of a Spunding Valve [See: Build a Spunding Valve! – How and Why]

As of this posting, MoreBeer has this on sale for just $8.99. Shipping is free with a qualifying $59 order to many US addresses. Price, promotions and availability can change quickly.  Please note that product prices and availability are subject to change. Prices and availability were accurate at the time this this post was published; however, they may differ from those you see when you visit the product page.  Check the product page for current price, description and availability.

12% Off Flash Sale: As their final deal for “12 Deals of Christmas” MoreBeer is discounting nearly everything by 12%.  That makes this awesome little tool just $7.91.

MKIII Dual Gauge CO2 Regulator – $39.99, Limited Supply

MKIII Dual Gauge CO2 Regulator D1076

MKIII Dual Gauge CO2 Regulator from MoreBeer

More Info

From the product description, check product page for current description, price and availability:

The MKIII Dual Gauge gas regulator is built to last. With a large body and precision diaphragm, this regulator provides high flow rates and very accurate adjustment.

One of the most common failures in gas regulators occurs because of contamination in the seat or seat cap assembly. The MKIII provides a second sintered filter on the underside of the seat cap assembly to help prevent this contamination. Also the seat cap assembly is fully encapsulated, reducing the chance of contamination if the regulator is opened to be serviced.

The seat and seat cap assembly also now takes advantage of an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) gasket. UHMWPE is significantly better at chemical resistance and stability than the normal Teflon gaskets.

Features:

  • 0 – 50 PSI
  • 1/4 in Barb
  • Improved seat and seat cap design
  • UHMWPE gasket provides a better seal
  • Fully encapsulated seat assembly helps prevent contamination

Hands on Review: Kegland Inline Secondary Regulator!

DuoTight Inline Regulator that has been updated to digital, see below for walk through of that process.

Updated: November 21, 2024

Limited Time Deal, Save via William’s Regulator Sale!

  • For a short time William’s Brewing is discounting their entire lineup of CO2 regulators and accessories by 15%.
  • No coupon code is required. Discounted prices show up in cart.
  • Shipping is free or reasonably priced flat rate to addresses in the contiguous US depending on your order size for most items.

William’s Brewing Regulator Sale

These are included in the mix! Now is a great time to add individual control to your kegs!

Multi-Pressure CO2 Options

Maintaining multiple CO2 pressures in your kegerator gives you the ability to… keep kegs at different pressures.  This is a requirement to maintain different carbonation levels. It’s also handy if you want to force carbonate a keg more quickly, at a higher pressure, while maintaining your standard serving pressure on a keg that’s already being served or if you want to have a utility line for purging kegs and such. continues below…

The general options for pulling this off are…

  • A multi-pressure primary CO2 regulator – example. This has two (or potentially more) high pressure bodies that allow you set different pressures.
  • Secondary CO2 regulators – example. These have no ability to connect to a CO2 tank directly. They must be connected to a compatible primary.

Both good options, but generally expensive.

Kegland to the rescue. Kegland has introduced economical inline secondary regulators. As of this review there are three options.

But first, more about DuoTight!

Kegland’s DuoTight Fittings are designed to work with EVABarrier Double Wall Tubing.  They offer quick, reliable connections, easy implementation, a variety of fitting options and feature amazing versatility.  They’re also, generally speaking, very well priced.  DuoTights are push to connect fittings and require no tubing clamps.

Check out my extensive Hands on Review

Hands on Review Kegland Inline Regulator w/Gauge

A look at the regulator. It has a pressure gauge, adjustment knob, inlet and outlet DuoTight ports and mounting holes.A closer look at the pressure gauge. This one goes to 60 PSI. Other gauge options may be available. This is a huge improvement vs v1. v1 feature no gauge. There is an updated DuoTight compatible inline (v2) version that has no gauge. That keeps costs down but still adds DuoTight compatibility. If you choose a model without a gauge, this is another great application of a Spunding Valve.

Backup – I’m out of CO2 and I want to pour a beer! Use as a backup if your main CO2 tank runs out.  Swap out the CO2 line for this regulator and you’ve got a temporary solution to keep you up and going until you can get more CO2.

Serve Beers at Alternate Carbonation Levels: This regulator goes up to 30 PSI.  That’s enough to serve higher carbonation beers like Hefeweizens and Belgians.  If you don’t have a dual or triple pressure setup, you could use this regulator to serve beers at higher pressures.  You could carbonate using your existing regulator (and full size tank) or naturally carbonate with priming sugar.  After the beer is completely carbonated, use this to serve at the higher pressure.

Hands on Review: Brewer’s Edge Micro CO2 Regulators – Serve Your Beer On The Go

Brewer’s Edge Micro Regulator ReviewThis review is by Homebrew Finds Contributor Brad Probert.  Brad is an engineer, expert homebrewer and experienced reviewer.  Grab a link to Brad’s website at the end of this review.

Brewer’s Edge Micro Regulator

A lot of people migrate from bottling to kegging over time. The common reason cited by most of us is the extra hassle involved with the bottling process and cleaning/sanitizing bottles. But there are a few additional reasons I look back on bottling in the past tense. For example, when you have “1” keg of something, it sounds lonely and feels like it needs a companion. This logic then leads you to grow to having 2 or 3 different beers hanging around at one time. This sounds very practical when you say “3 beers”, but if you open up your beer fridge and have 100+ bottles of beer you look like you have a problem. Another one I learned was that although having to dump out a batch of lackluster beer is sad in any occasion, it’s much more sad to open 20+ bottles and pour them down the drain rather than pop the top on one keg.

Even though kegging has its advantages, one notable downside is it makes it a lot more difficult to share your homebrew. There’s some good gear out there like pressurized growlers, bottle fillers, and equipment to mobilize your keg. But if you’ve ever brought a keg with you to a party, you know CO2 is a challenge. Disassembling your kegerator to lug a 5 # CO2 tank and its hoses around isn’t practical. So there are a number of options out there that make use of small 16 gram (and some up to 74 gram) CO2 cartridges.

There are simple ones that just have a trigger and you shoot a small burst of CO2 into your keg from time to time. These are OK, but you find yourself babysitting the keg all night because they’re not intuitive to the rest of the party-goers and you typically have people telling you that you’re out of beer when it just needs a trigger shot. So the better bet are the ones with a built-in pressure regulator where you can set a serving pressure and leave it (until you really run out of CO2).

Brewer’s Edge has a micro regulator that comes with an adjustable pressure knob, and a female fitting to allow you to screw in a standard gas quick-connect. It accommodates the typical 16 gram CO2 cartridge but also allows you to change out your adaptor and attach the big daddy 74 gram CO2 cartridge. It has a dial that allows you to set and leave a pressure from 0 – 30 psi, and let the regulator do its job of bleeding in more CO2 as needed as beer is drank out of the keg while you go worry about something else.

Introducing: Mini Flex Compact Modular Regulators

Mini Flex Regulators

Keg Connection has introduced the Mini Flex Compact Modular Regulator.  This is similar to some of the compact regulators we’ve seen in the pack, but a lot more flexibility.  You can use this with a standard CGA320 type tank, 74g cartridges or 16 gram cartridges.

We’ve covered mini regulators on HBF in the past. The general benefits uses are…

  • Portable Serving: As an on-the-go regulator.
  • Backup – I’m out of CO2 and I want to pour a beer! Use as a backup if your main CO2 tank runs out.  Swap out the CO2 line for this regulator and you’ve got a temporary solution to keep you up and going until you can get more CO2.
  • Serve Beers at Alternate Carbonation Levels: This regulator goes up to 30 PSI.  That’s plenty to serve high carbonation beers like Hefeweizens and Belgians.  If you don’t have a dual or triple pressure setup, you could use this regulator to serve beers at higher pressures.  I would not suggest force carbonation with this unit.  The 74g cartridges would be pricey. You could carbonate using your existing regulator or just as easily naturally carbonate with priming sugar.  After the beer is completely carbonated, use this to serve at the higher pressure.

The flexibility offered by the Mini Flex takes the concept to another level.

Mini Flex Compact Regulator at Keg Connection

The Mini Flex is priced at $59.95.  Additional Add Ons are available including CO2 cartridges, taps and more.  It ships as part of Keg Connections Flat Rate Shipping program.  That means you can get this and one of these stellar keg deals and pay one flat shipping fee…

Some everyday great deals and unique items at Keg Connection…
