Announcing: Kegland’s Bucket Buddy Stainless Steel Fermenter!

kegland bucket buddy

Bucket Buddy Electric Fermenter – 35L/9.25G (110V) via MoreBeer

More Info

From the product description, check product page for current description, price and availability:

If you’ve been looking to step up from fermenting in plastic buckets or carboys, this is an excellent choice for your next fermenter. Stainless steel is a much better option than glass or plastic, as it is extremely easy to clean and virtually lasts forever. There’s also much less chance of contamination as stainless doesn’t scratch like plastic. Over time, you’ll get scratches in plastic fermenters from normal wear and tear, creating microscopic havens for bacteria. Meanwhile, glass carboys are always at risk of breaking which is something you will never have to worry about with stainless steel.

The Bucket Buddy represents a great value for a stainless fermenter in this size. Another advantage over carboys and plastic buckets is the domed base inside the fermenter which is great for yeast flocculation when fermentation is complete. The included racking arm will make it easy to transfer out every last drop of beer while leaving the yeast cake undisturbed. The entire racking arm and ball valve assembly is weldless, which means you can remove the assembly to clean and sanitize it between batches. You can even boil the assembly for added assurance that it’s been sterilized.

Also available with built-in heating element for fermenting in colder environments. You can also use a heat wrap or heat belt on the outside of this unit. To help maintain a steady temperature, the Bucket Buddy pairs well with either the BrewZilla Neoprene Jacket or the FermZilla Insulating Jacket. For cooling, you can place the fermenter in a dedicated refrigerator or drill into the lid to install a Temp Twister Cooling Coil. A temperature controller probe can then be inserted into the thermowell to control your heating and cooling sources.

This unit comes standard with silicone tubing to transfer from the ball valve to your bottles or cans, as well as a stopper and airlock for the domed lid.

Specifications:

304 stainless steel construction
9 gallon total capacity
Digital thermometer (Temp reads in °C)
Weldless thermowell
Stainless steel outlet valve with rotating racking arm
Stopper & airlock included
External Dimensions: 28″ H x 15″ W (including handles)
Internal Dimensions: 22″ H x 11.75″ W
KegLand Part Number: KL15103

Update: FermZilla Pressure Fermenters! – On Sale + Free DuoTight Spunding Valve

FermZilla Conical Pressure Brewing Kit

Fermenting Under Pressure

Pressurized fermentations are becoming increasingly popular, and for a good reason. Some of the benefits that you gain from fermenting beer under pressure are: Lower ester production, being able to ferment at higher temperatures without producing off-flavors, and having your beer carbonated by the end of fermentation (rather than carbonating separately for over a week!). Called Unitanks because you can use them for both fermentation and carbonating. You can serve beer directly from uni tanks, counter pressure fill bottles or easily transfer beer into kegs using pressure.

tsrspund

Fermenting lagers under pressure is a huge benefit of unitank. When yeast ferment under pressure, the production of fruity esters is greatly reduced. This can allow you to brew a lager at 70F an obtain traditional lager flavor. All of the fementers listed below also allow for fermenting under no pressure or greatly reduced pressure which is preferable for making ales where the fruity esters are an essential part of the flavor profile.

  • MoreBeer has introduced several FermZilla Pressure Fermenter options.  Including conicals and All Rounder style fermetners.
  • These have been extremely popular since their introduction and have sold out quickly each time they’ve become available.
  • Shipping is free with a qualifying $59 order to many US addresses

Update: The 7.9 gal size has sold out, three options remain, 7.1 gal, 15.9 gal and 13.2 gal.

Hands on Review: Anvil Crucible Stainless Conical Fermentor!

anvil brewing equipment crucible conical review

Anvil Crucible Stainless Conical Fermentor

Complete Fermentor Box Contents

In the world of brewing, stainless steel reigns supreme. And in the world of fermentors, conicals top the “most desired” list of many homebrewers. So of course, combining these two things explains why stainless conicals are such a desired commodity in the homebrewing world. Blichmann was one of the first to offer homebrewers a stainless conical fermentor, back in 2004. But recently they introduced a more budget-friendly model, in their Anvil line, called the Crucible. The Crucible does not have the same feature set as Blichmann’s Fermenator, as the Anvil Crucible is not pressure capable. But it does take advantage of the true “conical fermentor” shape.

Fermenter vs Fermentor?

(Note: Some use the word “fermenter”, and some use “fermentor”. Although “fermenter” is the common use word, someone once explained that grammatically speaking, “fermentor” was more accurate. So now I can’t help myself. Sorry.)

BrewBuild Uni+ Conical Fermentor

Fermentors are like the cars of the brewing world. There is a wide range of prices, appearances, and features. And just like cars, the most basic model (plastic bucket with a lid) will get the job done. But the basic model has limitations, and you soon find yourself eyeballing the next step up the fermentor food chain to either get one that’s flashier (stainless) or one that has more features (pressure fermentation capable). Of course, the ultimate is one that’s both shiny and has more features (stainless pressure-capable conical).

Fermentor Before Any Assembly

BrewBuilt is a division of MoreBeer that creates homebrew gear. They make a variety of products, and recently launched a series of stainless pressure-capable conical fermentors they call the X1 Uni. The X1 comes with a lot of different accessories for added features, depending on what you want. You can buy the add-ons piecemeal, or they come bundled into different hardware kits. There is the base X1 Uni, the X1 Uni+ that bundles some add-ons and temperature capabilities, and the X1 Uni Pro that also includes a heat pad, Peltier cooler, and a temperature controller.

7 Gallon SS Brewing Technologies Brew Bucket Stainless Steel Fermentor via MoreBeer

More Info

From the product description, check product page for current description, price and availability:

Upgrade your home brewery with an innovative, Stainless Steel, 7 Gallon Brew Bucket™ Fermenter!  You will enjoy many of the benefits of a stainless conical fermenter but at a fraction of the cost and you are going to love how easy it is to use!  Made by Ss Brewing Technologies from polished 304 Stainless Steel, the Brew Bucket™ fermentor is not only functional it is downright beautiful. At MoreBeer!  we know brewing equipment and we truly believe this is a piece of equipment you are going to enjoy using every brew day.

We inspected and used the Brew Bucket™ and one of the most unique features that stood out is that the Brew Bucket can be stacked during fermentation, even with an airlock attached. We also like the conical bottom that allows trub to settle out in a concentrated space that minimizes the surface area of the trub that is in contact with your beer.  The included Patent Pending Rotating Racking Valve is also a brilliantly simple design allowing you to rotate the racking arm inside the Brew Bucket down during fermentation to minimize trub, and later up to get clear beer when racking!   Etched Volume Markers on the inside were super handy when filling and display in both Liters and Gallons.

The build quality is really amazing for the price. Welds are clean. The lid is strong and the spring loaded lid hatches are solid.  The lid includes a removable, molded silicone gasket that ensures an airtight seal.  We love an airtight seal so that we can be sure to see the airlock working.  The welded on stainless handles make the BrewBucket fermentor super easy to move.

Overall: Very functional, easy-to-use, will last a lifetime, and looks amazing. Lets make some beer!

Features:

  • Certified Food Grade 304 Stainless Steel Construction
  • Patent Pending Stainless Rotating Racking Valve
  • 6.95 gal Max Capacity
  • 40° Conical Bottom for Trub Trapping
  • Nests for Storage, Stacks for Ferment!
  • Molded Silicone Lid Gasket
  • Spring Loaded Lid Clamps for Airtight Lid Seal
  • Offset Airlock Hole includes Silicone Stopper
  • Gallon & Liter Markers inside for visual volume assessment
  • Stainless construction resists damage and is easy to clean
  • 21” Height x 13” Width
  • 10 lbs

  • Supply Issues… Like a lot of vendors, Ss Brewtech is having some problems keeping things in stock. This is true of the 7 gallon Brew Bucket. If this is like other supply problems we’ve seen lately, I wouldn’t be surprised if the next shipment gets sold out before it arrives or soon after. The best way to get a Brew Bucket is to pre-order now. As of this posting MoreBeer is accepting Pre-Orders on the 7 Gallon Brew Bucket.
  • Update #1 – We posted about this coming back in stock on June 15. Not long after… it sold out again.
  • Update #2 – It’s back on pre-order. The good news is that… they’re actually taking pre-orders and delivery time is relatively soon, in September. Check product page for current info.
  • These are a lot of fermenter for the money.  Check out our Hands on Review of the Brew Bucket

FermZilla Conical Fermenter – 7.1 gal. / 27 L

The new and improved FermZilla, a 27 liter conical fermenter brought to you by the critical key minds and engineers behind the original Fermentasaurus Gen 1. New FermZilla Pressure Fermenters!
