Our best-selling BrewBuilt kettles, now available with 1.5″ Tri-Clamp fittings!
T.C. (or Tri-Clover) fittings are the gold standard in professional breweries, and they’re gaining ground in the homebrewing world. The main benefit of T.C. fittings is that they’re generally threadless, which makes them very easy to keep clean and sanitary. These kettles do not include a valve or other fittings, so be sure to check out the “You Might Also Need” section below to add your desired fittings and accessories.
Designed for Brewing. Built to Last. BrewBuilt brew kettles, made from 304 stainless steel, offer an unparalleled mix of features for their price range. At the very top of the list are two welded-in-place T.C. fittings that offer a lifetime of leak-free use. As you can imagine, welding in a coupler costs more than punching a hole and using a gasketed (i.e. weld-less) fitting. Welded fittings offer a permanent connection that, in our opinion, is worth every penny. The second unique feature that we absolutely love about these brew kettles is the notched lid with silicone plug. This notch allows you so much flexibility; you can use an immersion chiller, one of our Ultimate Sparge Arms (BE950) for mashing, tie off hop bags, take a temp reading during cooling, or whatever else we all can dream up.
This Brew Kettle has a lot to offer…
Some other features we dig include the internal volume markers from the bottom to the top – so handy for instant reads. The silicone sleeved handles on the kettle and the lid are a cool feature to protect your hands. The tri-clad bottom with a 4mm core of aluminum sandwiched between two layers of stainless steel offers even heat distribution during the boil and also makes it a perfect choice for anyone wanting to use an induction burner.
Beefy 304 Stainless
These kettles are made from 304 grade stainless. That means you will have less corrosion issues than with a kettle made from lower grade 201 type stainless. We put these kettles through a corrosive salt water test in the MoreBeer! shop and they passed with flying colors. We also made sure the rivets and riveted handles were also made of stainless steel for a long term, trouble free life. The 10 and 15 gallon size are made from 1.0mm thick stainless steel. The 22, 31, and 50 gallon size are made with 1.2mm stainless – that’s pretty thick stuff – and you will know it when you pick one up.
Size Ratios and stuff
All the BrewBuilt kettles follow the recent trend to a 1.2:1 ratio where the height is 1.2 times the diameter. This is a proven commercial ratio that has been adopted in homebrewing to achieve a more consistent 10% evaporation rate during the boil. We do like this ratio for boiling. For Mashing we would prefer a little bit shallower but that is a small compromise. Dimensions for a hot-liquor tank, if you are thinking brewing system down the road, are irrelevant as any ratio kettle will do.
Unique 22 Gallon Size
This size was born from customer feedback. Many customers making 10 gallons actually want to end up with 10 gallons at the end of kegging. That means you can be starting a boil with 13-14 gallons of wort to account for boil off, kettle loss, and fermenter loss. The 22 Gallon size kettle allows you to boil those quantities with plenty of room for boil overs. Want to make a 15 gallon batch with friends… you can squeeze that in to! You’ll never regret having a little extra kettle.
Final Words
With welded fittings, a bunch of cool features, and a solid, thick 304 stainless steel core this kettle is a pretty amazing value. Remember, if you order BrewBuilt kettle from MoreBeer! we ship free anywhere in the continental USA!
10, 15, 20 and 30 gallon sizes are available.

7 Position 1/2″ Butterfly Valve Made from 304 Stainless Steel from MoreBeer
More Info
From the product description, check product page for current description, price and availability:
Here’s why homebrewers like to use butterfly valves: Regular ball valves can trap wort inside of them. If the wort doesn’t get completely cleaned out it can become infected & turn sour, transmitting that infection to the next wort to travel through the valve. A favorite of homebrewers, sanitary butterfly valves are easily cleaned in place. Because their internal mechanism is not complex, they can also easily be taken apart for a deeper cleaning when desired.
This is a compact design with a 7 position handle, made completely from AISI 304L stainless steel. The handle’s indexing plate can be reversed for either right or left hand use.

Benefits of Fermenting Under Pressure + The Challenges of Dry Hopping Under Pressure
Fermenting under pressure has some great benefits. One of the challenges that using this method presents is… dry hopping. When fermenting under pressure the beer is carbonated. Adding dry hops to a fermented and carbonated beer, especially one at relatively warm fermentation temps equates to a Mentos+Diet Coke sort of situation. The hops provide lots and lots of nucleation points that can cause the beer to erupt expelling foam all over the place in the process denaturing head retaining proteins.
FermZilla fermenters from Kegland have a ready made solution called the Hop Bong. It allows you easily dry hop under pressure. Since the beer and dry hops are under pressure you don’t have foaming problems when dry hopping.

BrewBuild Uni+ Conical Fermentor
Fermentors are like the cars of the brewing world. There is a wide range of prices, appearances, and features. And just like cars, the most basic model (plastic bucket with a lid) will get the job done. But the basic model has limitations, and you soon find yourself eyeballing the next step up the fermentor food chain to either get one that’s flashier (stainless) or one that has more features (pressure fermentation capable). Of course, the ultimate is one that’s both shiny and has more features (stainless pressure-capable conical).
Fermentor Before Any Assembly
BrewBuilt is a division of MoreBeer that creates homebrew gear. They make a variety of products, and recently launched a series of stainless pressure-capable conical fermentors they call the X1 Uni. The X1 comes with a lot of different accessories for added features, depending on what you want. You can buy the add-ons piecemeal, or they come bundled into different hardware kits. There is the base X1 Uni, the X1 Uni+ that bundles some add-ons and temperature capabilities, and the X1 Uni Pro that also includes a heat pad, Peltier cooler, and a temperature controller.

Tell anyone that you spend hours cleaning as part of a hobby, and you’ll probably get a few odd looks. Unfortunately this is our reality as Homebrewers. Planning, prepping, cleaning, and waiting take up large percentages of any given batch. We often chase new ingredients, techniques, equipment, and short cuts in an effort to reduce the time we spend on these areas. Sometimes introducing new equipment into your process can make some parts of these tasks easier, while introducing new steps to others.
Pumps help move around lots of liquid in a short amount of time, reducing the need to lift heavy kettles or pots. They also introduce some additional planning needed for connecting vessels in a loop of hosing and cleaning after use. This has essentially been the summary experience I’ve had with my Chugger X-Dry [Hands on Review]. In the never ending quest for reducing the time and effort needed to use it, I looked at what changes I could make to my setup to make using it even simpler.
Blichmann Engineering is well known for high quality and well designed equipment targeted at Homebrewers. It should be no surprise then that their Riptide pump is a fairly feature packed model compared to others on the market. Particularly their TC clamp attached pump head with built in flow control and priming valve. In recognition of their audience, Blichmann also produces an upgrade kit that offers these same features to anyone with a Chugger or March pump.
Upgrading my Chugger X-Dry with their kit seems like a perfect way to take a good pump and make it even better, hopefully shaving some steps off of the prep and cleaning process in the meantime.
Criteria
My original criteria when looking for a pump were largely satisfied by the Chugger X-Dry, but there were a couple of criteria that were lacking, namely:
Head assembly should be fairly easy to take apart to aid in cleaning]
Flow control valve for use when sparging
Easy and intuitive to prime and get started
As the Riptide conversion kit is meant to solve many of these things, it made a natural candidate for trying out an upgrade to see if I could improve the usability experience. Additionally, my experience with the X-Dry suggested it was fairly easy to get into a state where it was cavitating. My hope was that the purge valve would help alleviate, or solve, this issue.

Corny Keg Lid, Oval Ball Lock Keg Attachment, Cornelius Tri-Clamp Keg Lid with 1.5″ TC Ferrule, Attach Dry Hopper, Stainless Steel Sanitary Fitting, for Homebrew, Beer Kegging, Dry-Hopping
More Info
Highlighted Features
🍺Perfect for brewing and dry-hopping: Use the 1.5" TC ferrule of this oval keg fitting as a port, for example, to easily add hops to secondary fermentation by connecting a dry hopper. The welded flange also allows for the attachment of other TC fittings like elbow tubes, sight windows, or clamp tees – take your homebrewing setup to the next level!
🍺Fits Corny kegs snugly: Made of 304 stainless steel and equipped with a strong, thick silicone gasket, this replacement lid fits snugly onto any kind of homebrew, ball lock, or soda keg that boasts an oval opening.
🍺Easy installation: Installing this replacement cap is as easy as drinking beer: Simply slide the Cornelius keg lid into the opening of your beer or soda keg and push down the lid clamp – no screwdriver or wrench necessary.
🍺Avoid excess pressure: For your safety and to avoid excess pressure, this keg cover comes with an integrated pressure relief valve. Simply pull out the valve ring and the gas inside the keg will escape immediately. Also, if the pressure exceeds 60 PSI the valve will release gas automatically.
🍺Get a spare O-ring: It is common for gaskets to get damaged after a while due to the constant pressure they are under. Thankfully, this set includes a spare tri-clamp silicone washer which you can use as a replacement to prevent any leaks around your TC connections.
This can be used to convert a compatible Cornelius style keg to Tri-Clamp. That has a number of potential applications including using for dry hopping. See the project below for more on that.

Brewers Hardware Take-Apart Ball Valve
Up until now, I’ve known of two types of ball valves- 2-piece and 3-piece. The key difference between them being that the 3-piece can be disassembled for full cleaning. When I first started buying gear, I figured I’d go for the 3-piece because the idea of being able to take it apart and clean it sounded like something I should probably do. After seeing the complications of needing to use 2 wrenches at a time, while holding the body of the valve stable, I quickly concluded my 3-piece valves would never experience the joy of a ‘deep cleaning’.

Kegland Hop Bong
Keeping oxygen out of a fermenter after the initial yeast pitch is a goal of most fermentations, with a few exceptions being oxygenating a high gravity batch mid-way through fermentation, barrel-aged ales, or spontaneously fermented ales in open foeders. For a homebrewer who wants to brew a beer outside of those exceptions noted, avoiding oxygen introduction after fermentation has begun is paramount to a quality finished beer, a goal which is sometimes a difficult to attain. Notably, adding dry hops, other flavor components (e.g. wood chips or coffee beans), or clarifying agents (e.g. gelatin fining or Biofine) presents a challenge for most homebrewers if they want to avoid oxygen exposure in the fermenting wort.
There are workarounds and ways for homebrewers to limit oxygen introduction, conceived upon by crafty brewers over the years. Dry hops for example, can be suspended in a muslin bag above the wort by placing a magnet inside the bag and its mating magnet on the outside of the fermenter. In this way, the hops will be in the fermenter at the beginning of fermentation and can be dropped according to the dry hop schedule by simply removing the outside magnet, all without opening the fermenter. Or, to add clarifying agents without cracking the fermenter lid, a brewer can utilize a plastic bottle with a carbonation cap. This method entails adding the liquid substance to a plastic soda bottle and pressurizing the bottle with CO2 via the carbonation cap, purging it, and repeating the process multiple times to ensure the gas inside the bottle is mostly composed of CO2. Then, by using a ball lock jumper, the pressurized bottle can be connected to a fermenter’s ball lock post, if equipped, and the liquid will enter the fermenter, so long as the pressure in the fermenter is less than that of the bottle.
Although these workarounds exist and cut the mustard for my purposes, I was excited when I found out that Kegland was set to release a product that appeared to be a simpler solution all around. In looking into it further I found that it was advertised to have additional uses, aside from the main feature of enabling hop, flavor, or fining additions to the fermenter while limiting oxygen ingress. This highly anticipated product is called the Hop Bong.
I have been a proud owner of a Kegland FermZilla All Rounder fermenter – Hands on Review – for over two years now and have nothing but good things to say about it. As a manufacturer, Kegland is a homebrewing gear innovator and a leader in the market. They are continuing to come up with novel equipment and tools that span their wide array of product offerings including many for their FermZilla fermenter line. I was excited to see what the Hop Bong could offer as an addition to my All Rounder fermenter.
