Possible homebrew-related uses – yeast cake storage, store smaller amounts of ingredients, yeast rehydration, storing and organizing smaller parts and pieces around your homebrewery and general storage.  Non-brewing related bonus… these type of containers are great for giving food-stuffs away as they are economical enough that you don’t need to worry about getting your container back.

There are many offerings for these types of containers and they can change quickly.  Search Amazon for “deli containers” to see what’s out there.  Some things to look for – food safe materials, microwave safe and tight fitting lids.

Related: Not Just for Bars Anymore… Using Interlocking Bar Mats Around Your Home Brewery!

I use similar mats (different model, manufacturer and specs) and find them very handy.  I use them for drying brew day gear and glassware and also underneath my fermenter in my fermentation deep freeze to improve airflow and keep the fermenter out of any condensation that might show up).  I also use this in bottom of my kegerator.

The ones I use are meant for bar/food use and these are floor tiles, so you’d probably want to limit use to non-food applications like flooring and lining your kegerator or fermentation chamber.

My rule of thumb for unmilled grain storage is about 5 lbs per gallon.  At that estimate, You could get about 41.25 lbs of grain in the 33 quart (8.25 gallons) container and about 15 lbs of grain in the 12 quart (3 gallon) container.  These are rough estimates.  Actual capacities will vary.

How much grain can this hold? The 35 lb size is listed as having an 8.5 gallon capacity.  My rule of thumb for unmilled grain storage is 5 lbs per gallon.  At that rate, this would hold about 42.5 lbs of grain.  That’s a rough estimate.  Actual storage capacity will vary.
