From AHS: “The perfect brew pot for brewing all grain batches of beer! This pot is constructed of 18 gauge steel and features two 1/2″ NPT welded female couplings. These couplings are perfect for adding brewing accessories to your brew set up. Use the lower coupling to add a 1/2″ ball valve assembly on the exterior and a bazooka screen on the interior and use the upper coupling to add a thermometer. Not ready to add that much? A kettle plug will easily close the coupling allowing you to utilize it at a later date. The pot’s interior also features volume markings in quarter gallon markings, staring with 1/4 gallon all the way to 14 gallons.”

The bottom port can be used for a ball valve.  It is a full port meaning that it’s threaded on both sides.  That means you can easily add a bazooka screen of pickup tube on the inside.  The top port can be used for a thermometer.  Since these are welded ports, there’s no messing with weldless kits that have more of a tendency to leak.
