This is a gas disconnect for a Cornelius or Firestone ball lock keg.This disconnect has an internal check valve that will allow the gas to flow out while stopping back flow of liquid back into your system. This disconnect has a 1/4″ MFL that can use and of the hose on our site using the swivel nuts (1/4″ for 3/16 or 1/4″ hose or 5/16 for the 5/16 hose).

This is similar in concept to the Eva Dry E-500 – Hands on Review.  It contains desiccant material that absorbs moisture (in places like your kegerator).  The desiccant beads change colors as this takes place to let you know when the unit needs to be recharged.  This one differs from most of the models that we’ve featured on Homebrew Finds because instead of plugging in to drive off accumulated moisture you heat the Lockdown in the oven to recharge.

CO2 manifolds allow you to feed multiple kegs off one co2 regulator.  Things to look for in a capable manifold are shut-off valves for each trunk and check valves.  Check valves makes sure flow goes the right directly.  This is important for CO2 manifolds because differences in pressure make it possible for liquid to back flow through gas lines.

I use similar mats (different model and manufacturer) and find them very handy.  I use them for drying brew day gear and glassware and also underneath my fermenter in my fermentation deep freeze to improve airflow and keep the fermenter out of any condensation that might show up).  I also use this in bottom of my kegerator.

Not Just for Bars Anymore… Using Interlocking Bar Mats Around Your Home Brewery!

In spite of not actually having a formal home bar, I’m a big fan of… bar mats.  Generally speaking these are made for food-related uses and  they’re designed to be wet from time to time.  They provide a nice surface to set things on all the while increasing air flow.  That increased air flow helps get and keep things dry.  Better airflow can also help regulate temperature better.

Personally, I’ve used San Jamar’s Versa Mat, but many other similar products are available.  Mine are 12″ x 12″, lock together for use in larger areas and can be trimmed when needed.

To get the best pour possible you want to make sure your glass is free of dust, debris, and dish soap residue. The easiest way to do this is with a quick rinse of cold water right before pouring beer into the glass. This drip tray features a push-activated jet that can be hooked up to a pressurized keg or main water supply. To give your glass a quick spritz, simply press it down on the rinsing platform to activate the jet. The drip tray also has a pre-plumbed drain outlet to run to a nearby bucket or drain. For best results feed the jet clean, cold water at a pressure between 15 to 60 psi. If directly connecting to your main water supply, we recommend using an inline regulator to lower the water pressure as needed.
