Note from HBF: One difference between Pin Lock and Ball Lock kegs is the type of lids that come with each. Ball Locks, generally, have a manual PRV valve, while Pin Locks do not. Ball Lock style lids are, in my opinion, superior because the manual PRV allows you to easily vent your keg as needed. The good news is that, for standard kegs, the lids are the same size and can be interchanged. That means you can use a Ball Lock style lid in a Pin Lock Keg.

Availability of Consecration Kits at MoreBeer can be touch and go (guessing this has to do with sourcing actual Consecration Barrels, but that’s only a guess). As such I don’t often see this kit specifically discounted. As of this posting, both all grain and extract versions of this kit are in stock. These just came back in stock as of the 6/16. Consecration is awesome… A note on Consecration: I’m not big on picking favorites. I think there are far too many good things to pick favorites on most things. Having said that, if I were going to write down a list of my favorite beers, Consecration would certainly be towards the top. This is an amazing beer.

All of our Porter recipes are descendants of his designs which date back to the 1980s.
