Heavenly Haze is our series of single-hop Hazy IPAs. Whenever a hip new hop hits the scene, we’re as excited to brew with it as you are! We developed Heavenly Haze to use a straight-forward hazy IPA malt bill as a base that’s shared between all Heavenly Haze recipe kits—the only thing that changes is your hop of choice! This allows you to really zero in on the different flavors and aromas of one particular hop, and it’s how we recommend experiencing a new hop you haven’t brewed with before. From Great Fermentations: A mix of wheat, malted oats and chit malt lay over the base malt to give that thick haze. The hop flavors and aromas are brought to life by Crystal, Chinook Comet and Michigan Copper hops; not a combo you would expect, but when grown in the state of Indiana, these hops are super J-U-I-C-Y!

Malt from Sugar Creek is always awesome. For this particular beer, we focused on a combination of Chit, malted oats, and wheat to bump up the haze factor by 11x.
CRAZY HORSE HOPS
Crystal, comet, chinook, and copper are not your typical hazy IPA hops. But, when these hops are grown in Indiana, they transform and offer a totally different experience than their west coast brethren.

The team at Pax Verum has been brewing great beer since 2018, and their five-year anniversary is coming up at the end of April! This was a special collab for us, as we got to work with the head brewer at Pax, and former Great Fermentations employee, Colt Carpenter. He was great to work with and really helped to nail down the perfect combo of malt and hops for the ultimate juicy haze.

Some believe that amongst the chaos of colliding fragments, a mythical form of cosmic dust condenses into Space Nectar—matter so delicious that our Terra-bound taste buds would surely find it incomprehensible. Physics be damned, Moonraker Brewing Company’s extraordinary Hazy IPA is the best estimation of what it may be like to take in this heavenly ambrosia. Space Nectar overflows with flavors of peach, apricot and orange sherbet. Over half of the hop bill is comprised of Cryo Hops® which lend a clean, pungent aroma to this absolute juice bomb. A healthy helping of pale wheat malt and flaked wheat provide the perfect amount of fuzz to complement the bright notes of stone fruit.
Moonraker’s head brewer, Brad Johnson, recommends cooling the wort to 170°F before adding the whirlpool addition to really make those hops pop. Ferment with Imperial Juice A38 or similar strain to add the ideal finishing touch.
