For me, getting a refractometer was one of those upgrades that made a lot of difference. With a refractometer you need a sample size of two drops. Finally picked one up. I was tired of having a bunch of small cups on hand, having to put the samples in the freezer for 15 minutes for it to cool, etc. Now I can take a super small sample and know the gravity instantly! I also bought the 12 inch long pipettes from eBay.
