Enter to Win a Keg Rebuild Prize Package from Valuebrew!
This photo is from my Keg Rebuild Post – Jump To: Replacing O-Rings – it is not a representation of the exact prize package.
If you’ve read Homebrew Finds for long you’ll know that I’m a fan of Valuebrew’s lineup of food grade replacement o-rings. They are featured in my Keg Rebuild Post and elsewhere – Jump To: Replacing O-Rings. I also now use their universal poppets exclusively. Those feature Valuebrew’s food grade silicone o-rings and food grade 304 stainless steel. They’ve also committed to always providing replacement o-rings for their poppets.
Valuebrew replacement o-rings feature food grade materials, FDA rated silicone, EPDM and Buna-N. For whatever reason, it’s difficult to find food safe keg o-rings. Maybe some of the o-rings that are available are food safe, but very few are actually labeled as such. The fact is we’re putting beer (food) in our kegs and we should be using food safe materials. Color Code Keg Post O-Rings for Easy Identification:
Valuebrew carries two color schemes to color keg posts. Doing this allows you to quickly identify keg posts. Gray and Black match standard keg QD colors. Blue and Green are meant to be remembered by “Blue for Beer” and “Green for Gas”. All options are made from FDA rated silicone. Since they work equally well on gas and liquid posts you can also mix and match to come up with your own color coding standard.
