Updated: November 26, 2024
Kegland’s DuoTight Fittings are designed to work with EVABarrier Double Wall Tubing. They offer quick, reliable connections, easy implementation, a variety of fitting options and feature amazing versatility. They’re also, generally speaking, very well priced. DuoTights are push to connect fittings and require no tubing clamps.

DuoTight and EVABarrier Sizing
DuoTight Fittings and EVABarrier Tubing are generally available in two sizes, 8 mm and 9.5 mm. Your fittings and tubing need to be the same size to be compatible. Size converters are available, but I would generally suggest picking one size and standardizing on it. For most homebrewers, I think that the 8 mm size probably makes the most sense. It doesn’t really matter for gas and the smaller size will probably be more convenient to homebrewers as it offers increased resistance on the liquid side. If you have a pro setup or long runs, the 9.5 mm size may make more sense. Either way, understand that multiple sizes are available for many but not all fittings and accessories.
I have standardized on 8 mm. Those are pictured and discussed in this review but general concepts should apply to both all sizes.
Note that sometimes DuoTight and EVABarrier tubing are labeled using English measurements 3/8″ for 9.5 mm and 5/16″ for 8 mm and 15/64″ for 6 mm.

Of course it’s a tubing cutter but it’s also designed to help you remove tubing from DuoTight Fittings. That part of the tool is pictured on the left side of this photo. I do like this for cutting tubing, I’m not as big of a fan of using it for helping to remove tubing. That part of the tool is just too flimsy in my opinion. What works a lot better for helping to remove EVABarrier tubing….MoreBeer’s KOMOS branded Draft Multi Tool has a notch in it (top middle on this photo) that’s designed to help remove EVABarrier tubing. This is a much heartier tool that works a lot better for removing tubing from DuoTight Fittings.CO2 Gauge. I recommend picking one of these up. It’s good for checking for leaks and you can also easily throw together a keg pressure gauge. The gauge can be a bit difficult to disengage from DuoTights in my experience. Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy enough. But it’s definitely more difficult to disengage as compared to EVABarrier Tubing.
Announcing: New Digital Gauge Option!
Kegland has announced a new digital gauge option! 0-90 PSI, auto-shutoff after 15 seconds and a 2 year battery life with typical use.
Kegland has released a digital gauge option that works with their great inline secondary regulator and BlowTie Spunding Valve. They have also released a DuoTight version. This is a hands on look at both including upgrades of the inline regulator and BlowTie.

DuoTight Compatible Solenoid Valves!
This super handy Solenoid Valve is compatible with small 1/4″ or 6.35 mm OD tubing. This size tubing is often used on water filtering systems or reverse osmosis systems, and can be used with an Inline Regulator to drop your mains water pressure if needed. To integrate the Inline Regulator, you will also need a Duotight adapter to step up the tubing size for use with EVABarrier 8 mm OD lines.
Unlike some other solenoid valves this is a direct acting solenoid valve meaning the solenoid valve can go down to 0 pressure. This makes it quite handy for controlling CO2 flow or other low-pressure gasses. Suitable for pressures up to 115 psi (8 bar) so it will handle water pressure with no problem at all.
Made from high-quality metal and POM engineering plastics so it is durable and suitable for contact with a wide range of chemicals and beverages.

Converting My Kegerator to DuoTights and EVABarrier
Old setup. Each shank required a beer nut, tail piece, tubing clamp and piece of tubing. These will go on my regulator and Ball Lock QDsMy regulator converted to DuoTights. A piece of EVABarrier Tubing to CO2 gauge is being used to check for leaksI strung together several tees to test each faucet for potential leaks. The modularity of DuoTights makes checking for leaks easy and it takes the guesswork out of the process. I can conclusively tell you my setup was leak free. Both bodies of my dual pressure regulator converted to DuoTightA Ball Lock Gas QD Converted to DuoTightTwo kegs plumbed using DuoTight Fittings. The modularity of DuoTight Fittings makes it easy to set up your kegerator without the use of a gas manifold. A tee+check valve means you can easily add another keg.
Tips for skipping ball valves in your DuoTight Setup
As you can see from these photos, I have not used ball valves to convert my kegerator to DuoTights and EVABarrier Tubing. If you decide to do that and want to reconfigure tubing, just disengage all connected QDs and turn off your regulator shut-off (or turn the tank valve off). If you leave everything open and on, you could needlessly waste a bunch of CO2.
The following upgrade can also help with this issue…
A Tweak For Super Clean DuoTight Kegerator Installs…
I’m going to make the case that a particular CM Becker/CMB product is a huge upgrade for manifold-free installs. CMB’s QD with built in check valve. The built in check valve means you can skip the DuoTight check valve. Both configurations work, but the addition of the CMB QD with inline check valve really cleans up the install. Both options side by side. QD + DuoTight Flare Fitting + EVABarrier Tubing + DuoTight Inline Check Valve VS CMB Inline Ball Lock QD + DuoTight Flare FittingBoth options installed. As stated previously, both work, but the CMB QD really simplifies and cleans up the setup.CMB QD + DuoTight Flare Fittingthree kegs, three optionsComplete setup – DuoTight Fittings and EVBarrier Tubing installed in my kegerator
Another benefit to using these is that incorporating DuoTight Ball Valves into your setup is not as necessary. Since gas can only flow in to your keg (the check features stops it from flowing out of your keg), you don’t need a ball valve to keep gas from exiting your keg when you remove EVABarrier tubing.

The History of DuoTight Keg QD Options
When DuoTights first came out, the solution for connecting kegs to EVABarrier was using an MFL QD + DuoTight Flare fitting. That works just fine and is still the only option available to pin lock keg users.

I’ve completed many pressure checks on these fittings and tubing. Other than connections that haven’t been quite tight enough (my fault), the system has been rock solid.
What is the Maximum Pressure for DuoTight Fittings?
Generally speaking DuoTights can be rated for up to 100 PSI. That can vary based on the fitting or assembly. See your favorite retailer or ask Kegland to confirm specifications if you have questions. Never exceed rated pressures.

More InfoFrom the product description, check product page for current description, price and availability:
Compact ball lock spunding valve features a 0-30 PSI gauge and now features an adjustable manual pressure pull ring relief valve (adjusts from 0-15 PSI). The adjustable manual pressure release can be removed, and a corny keg pressure relief valve installed in its place. The gauge features a standard DuoTight 8mm stem, and can be replaced with our DuoTight gauges, like our items C18, Z97, and E69 if desired.
Lots of ways to use this and upgrade it. If you want more accuracy than the manual adjustable spring loaded relief valve, you can upgrade with our item C16 DuoTight Blowtie valve, which has a rubber diaphragm valve which will always be more accurate at low pressures than the included spring loaded adjustable relief valve. If you do this, you will also need DuoTight Joiner, item number C70.
You can also replace the manual adjustable relief valve with preset keg relief valves like our item G65 (17 PSI) or B54 (0-30 PSI).
Sanitizing DuoTight Fittings – Star San & DuoTights?
I’ve gotten some feedback when it comes to DuoTights and Star San. The materials used in DuoTight fittings – Acetal, EPDM, Stainless – are generally compatible with Star San. However that doesn’t mean that you can soak DuoTights in Star San endlessly.
Star Stan could eventually damage DuoTights (and lots of other things) given excessive exposure. Contact time for Star San is five minutes. That’s about how long you should leave a part sitting in Star San.
Leaks? Troubleshooting EVABarrier/DuoTight Leaks
I’ve done several pressure tests with DuoTight Fittings and EVABarrier Tubing. Each test has proven the tested components were leak free. Having said that, it’s entirely possible that you’ll have a leak. This happens with any tubing system, that’s why we… check for leaks. Some tips…
- Check for leaks as you would if you were using standard tubing. DuoTights and EVABarrier are amazing… but not magic. They need to be installed correctly and securely throughout your system. Liquid liquids are easy to spot. Gas leaks are a little more difficult.
- I highly suggest picking up a DuoTight Pressure Gauge. You can easily add this to your setup and use this technique for checking for gas leaks.
- If you have a section of EVABarrier tubing that’s marred or damaged, cut off a couple inches to get a fresh end.
- Make sure you’re pushing the EVABarrier Tubing completely in to your DuoTight Fitting.
- Make sure you’re pulling your EVABarrier Tubing out firmly to engage the sealing mechanism.
- DuoTight Compatible Locking Clips – I recommend using these on all DuoTight connections. They snap into place pushing the collar out, securely engaging the fitting. They also help prevent bumps and moves from disengaging the connection.
- If you have a particular fitting that won’t seal… contact the seller or manufacturer to get a replacement. A leaking DuoTight fitting is not normal and I’m guessing your retailer will take care of you. Out of the dozens of fittings I have I’ve had 1 that was non-functional on receipt.
Conclusions
Combine features, versatility, quality and cost and I think the DuoTight/EVABarrier System is a game changer for kegerator builders and owners. Kegland has produced some really unique, well thought out and generally really well priced homebrewing and beer gear. I’ve owned and used these for months and continue to be super happy. If you’re building a kegerator or are ready to upgrade and modernize your setup, these deserve a very hard look.

Duotights are an absolute NO GO for me. The only good thing about them is their marketing. They crack, they leak like a sieve and deteriorate with any significant contact with Star San. I have just replaced ALL of my fittings back to the more reliable original clamp fittings. Never looking back
Hey James, sorry you haven’t had good experiences with DuoTights. That just doesn’t match my experience or a lot of others. The whole Star San thing could be an explanation. If they were compromised by soaking too long it would make sense that you’d see some failed fittings.
I usually love KegLands products but twice in the last few months I had an 8mm Tee and an 8mm coupling literally fall apart. One of the end caps on each of the fittings separated from the body and just fell to pieces. They were both used on 12psi CO2 systems and at different times. Needless to say, I lost 2 different cylinders of CO2. Expensive. The fittings were not cheap and this is just not supposed to happen. I complained to KegLand but all I got was basically “Sorry, we sell millions and this does not happen”. Guess I am the lucky one. I will go back to the double wall red tube with clamps. Never had that system fail.
Just order some tail piece fittings and the EVAbarrier line, with some QD FFL fittings. This review helped me decide!
Why aren’t all of the fittings on Amazon where you can buy a few without paying outrageous shipping charges.
I take that back. There is a seller on Amazon selling EVO at 250% over anyone else.
