The National Homebrew Competition (NHC) gives homebrewers a chance to receive invaluable feedback on their entries and also recognizes the most outstanding, world-class homebrewed beer, mead, and cider.

In 1979, 34 entries competed in the first American Homebrewers Association (AHA) National Homebrew Competition held in Boulder, Colorado. Since 2024, 166,700 entries have been evaluated, and the NHC has become the largest homebrew competition in the world.

Details and Awards Final Round & Awards Ceremony Details

After two great years in San Diego, the National Homebrew Competition (NHC) Final Round is heading to Kansas City, Mo. in June! We’re excited to host Final Round judging and awards in a city with such a vibrant homebrewing scene.

Final Round Details

  • Location: Boulevard Brewing Company, Kansas City, Mo.
  • Receiving: Entries due June 2-11
  • Judging: June 26-27

Awards Ceremony Details

  • Date: June 28
  • Location: Boulevard Brewing Company, Kansas City, Mo.
  • The ceremony will be live-streamed on The Brewing Network
  • In-person attendance is currently limited to Final Round judges who participate in both days of judging.

Want a chance to compete in Kansas City? Enter the NHC First Round by Feb. 19! First, second, and third place winners from each First Round location will advance to the Final Round.

To Enter the Competition

  • Confirm your AHA Member ID. It’s on your member card, and used to register.
  • Select the First Round site of your choice and click “Register Now”
    • Receiving and judging dates vary by location
    • First Round site availability is first come, first served
    • When a First Round site has reached capacity a “Site Full” banner will be posted on the website

Pro Tips

  • Review the 2025 Beverage Styles & Award Categories and choose the best fit for your entry. As competition organizers, we aren’t able to advise which category to enter, but you may reference the guidelines to make your best selection
  • Registration is hosted on the Beer Awards Platform (BAP). If you’ve registered for a competition in BAP before, log in to register for NHC. If you are new to BAP or forgot your credentials, use the “Sign up” or “Reset forgotten password” prompts on the login page.
